Principal’s Message I have recently been reading through the book of Romans. While it is full of wonderful teaching, there was a passage at the commencement of Chapter 5 that really jumped out at me. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5 ‘Hope’ is one of those words that we often use when we want something to happen, but it isn’t guaranteed. For example, our current Year 12 students hope they will do well in their exams; your netball team hopes they will win the grand final, and so on. We can do things that will assist our hopes (e.g. study hard, train and get fit), but that does not guarantee our hopes will be fulfilled. The beauty of this passage lies in the surety of hope. I recently asked someone if they knew whether they would be going to heaven when they died—they hoped that would be the case. We can be sure it is the case, because of the work carried out by Jesus on the cross. It is very easy for the worries of this world to weigh heavily on us. Will I get the marks I need for the course I want to do when I leave school; will I be able to find a job; will I ever meet the right boy/girl who I can marry one day; will we ever be able to manage a mortgage and buy our own place; and on it goes. Each stage of life brings its own worries. This passage never denies there will be worries in this life; in fact, not only will there be worries, but at times we will suffer (I think stress and worry can be a form of suffering for many of us). Paul tells us here that we can rejoice even in our suffering, because through suffering our hope is increased. There are no promises that when you give your life to Jesus everything will just fall into line and it will be smooth sailing from that point on. In fact, this passage would suggest quite the opposite; however, hope in the One who gives us peace with God and an eternal future in a home where there is no worry, fear or suffering. When we truly understand this, we are able to rejoice in our present suffering. Principal’s Message

I have recently been reading through the book of Romans. While it is full of wonderful teaching, there was a passage at the commencement of Chapter 5 that really jumped out at me. Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. We are full steam ahead with our swimming scheme for the next month. You can expect to see some very

tired infants students over the next few weeks. Please join us in prayers for safety and protection over our

little treasures as they travel to and from the pool each day.

Some families are experiencing some challenges locating our Monday Notes on CANVAS. To make this

process easier, I will send you a link via email on Mondays each even school week.

For the tech savvy families, here is the easy way to locate things on CANVAS:

1. Locate the ‘School Portal’ tab our school website (www.wyongccs.nsw.edu.au)

2. Click on the ‘CANVAS’ menu, which will open a new window.

3. Click on the hyperlink in the top right-hand corner to create a Parent account.

4. Students in Years 1-6 can give you their login and details. The Kindergarten login is

In November this year, our Year 10 students will be undertaking Work Experience. This is a great opportunity

for students to investigate and have experience in an area of employment where they have an interest.

If your Year 10 student has not started speaking to you regarding work experience, please talk to them and

ask to see the paperwork. Students were meant to have returned the documentation to Mrs Stein by the end

of Week 2. This is flexible where students are waiting to hear from prospective placements.

The Work Experience forms can be found on CANVAS Careers course and the dates are Mon 28/11 - Fri

2/12. The students were asked to complete their part of the form in class, so please check if your child has it

on their computer.

We are finding some students are stuck for where to go or what to do. If you are working in a

position where you could take one of our students for some Work Experience, please let me

know, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for your support as we encourage our students in their post-school options.

Mrs Suzanne Stein | Careers Advisor | [email protected]

For parents with multiple students:

When you have logged into CANVAS, go to the ‘Account’ tab, then click on the ‘Settings’

tab.

Go to the ‘Observing’ option and you can add your additional

children.

You will need to have your kids with you, so that they can provide

you with their login and password details.

Note: Your parent login is your email address.

YEAR 10 BLAZER FITTINGS Dear Year 10 Parents and Students,

This Thursday, 27th October, between 11-11.35am (Devotions & Recess), we will be arranging for all Year 10 students to have a Blazer fitting at the Uniform Shop. Blazers are a compulsory uniform item in Years 11 & 12, and need to be ordered in advance to guarantee that they will arrive prior to the commencement of Year 11 in 2017.

All Year 10 students will be fitted for a Blazer and will have an order placed for them (no deposit required; payment to be made in full upon delivery), unless we are instructed otherwise. If you have already purchased a Blazer or have arranged to obtain a second-hand one, please email us to let us know so that we do not put an order in for your child.

It is our hope that this fitting appointment will avoid any delivery delays, as well as reducing any parental stress surrounding the sizing and ordering of Blazers.
