We are pleased to report another year of recovery, new beginnings, family reunification, and growth. The year 2012 marked Wayside House’s 58th year of existence, and it is awe inspiring to think of all the women who have walked through our doors eager to start a new life in recovery, reunify with their chil-dren and find safe, sober housing. Wayside continues to be dedicated to empowering women to recover sobriety, identity, home and com-munity by providing treatment, housing and supportive services.

2012 was a year of changes and moving forward. As part of the Board of Directors’ annual strategic goal setting, a new board commit-tee was established to work jointly

with staff on measuring, monitor-ing and improving outcomes. This increased focus on outcomes, best practices and measuring impact is aligned with Wayside House’s strategic goals to address the changes associated with health-care reform. This will include Wayside House’s continued inte-gration of mental health services and primary care providers, with the aim of improving the overall health of the women and reducing the cost of their health care.

Other projects that we started in 2012 include increasing the number of families at the Wayside Family Treatment program and augment-ing the availability of family therapy and outpatient mental health ser-

vices. Our long history has been one of adaptation and changes that reflect the needs of women we serve, and our mantra is to do what is in the best interest of the client. To this end, Wayside House will continue to advance innovative strategies that show promise in helping women achieve long-term recovery and fulfilling lives. We recognize that positive and strong community relationships are vital for growth and change—both for Wayside House and the women we serve. On behalf of Wayside House, we express our gratitude to you for your support of our contin-ued efforts.

Sincerely,

2012 Wayside HouseBoard of Directors

Recovery Services helps women and families to focus on recovery by assisting them with basic living needs such as securing transitional or permanent supportive housing, finding and applying for employ-ment, or negotiating with land-lords. Recovery Services also has a partnership with the St. Louis Park Adult Options in Education, which provides teachers to assist clients with Adult Basic Education and with their GED studies when they have not graduated from high school. One of the newest services offered within the Recovery Services pro-gram is Celebrating Families!™, a 14-week program designed to help the whole family heal.
