Product description Thermo Skold from G-Cover is a water-proof insulating coating with very low thermal conductivity and high resistance to weathering. Thermo Skold insulates against exterior temperatures, always maintaining a comfortable temperature inside. This, in turn, saves a notable amount of energy, reduces operating costs, increases productivity, creates a comfortable interior temperature and increases the roof's lifespan to up to 5 years.

CharacteristicsThermal conductivityThermo Skold acts as a thermal insulator because it does not allow temperatures to be transmitted through the coating's elements. It has a thermal conductivity coefficient of K=0.0592BTU/HR/ft, which guarantees a temperature differential of up to 18°C, depending on what material you apply it to, during the period with most sun contact.

Thermal expansionThermo Skold has high thermal expansion coefficient, adapting itself to the expansions resulting from temperature changes in the substrate. It has a 500% range of flexibility, which allows it to support the expansions caused by temperature variations without presenting cracks.

Weather resistanceThermo Skold is water-resistant protector that does not allow the corrosion or oxidation of the surface it covers, giving it a longer lifespan; even resistant to acid rain. It does not absorb humidity or generate smells.

CompositionThermo Skold has a stable aqueous dispersion and is formed of a very heavy molecular styrenoacrylic polymer. It is insoluble in water, has a 0.1 to 0.5 µm particle form and is surrounded by a watery medium.Thermo Skold is emulsified in water and does not contain asbestos, solvents, epoxies or any other toxic component in its formation. In liquid form, it breaks down with water; therefore, it does not cause problems in treatment plants or drainages systems.

DensityThermo Skold has a density of 1.25 gr/cm3, which allows it to be applied to any structure without affecting the conditions of the design, with a thickness of 20 mills (thousandths of an inch), with a weight of 0.28 kg/m2.

Ecological properties Thermo Skold is biodegradable; it will not cause environmental problems if spilt because it is emulsified in water. It does not contain asbestos; it is environmentally friendly with flora and fauna.In case of a fire or if the surface comes into contact with flames, Thermo Skold is not flammable and thus does not produce smoke.

UV ray refractionThermo Skold refracts 82% of ultraviolet rays, which results in a notable temperature differential and reduces damage to materials and equipment.

UsesThermo Skold's versatility lets apply it to almost any surface, providing insulating properties. It can be applied to any structural surface: laminated metal roofs, concrete, cardboard, wood, glass, metal or any other surface that may be exposed to constant insolation; giving to 18ºC of temperature differential on the side is not facing the heat source.

ApplicationThe surface where the product is applied to, must be clean of all types of residues, grease, rust or any other element that may affect how well the coating will adhere to the surface; this can be cleaned by manual brushing and water.

Once the surface is clean and dry, Thermo skold can be applied. Two layers of the product must be applied, making sure that each coat is 10 mils thick. The product should be applied to the surface directly from the container, without altering its density or diluting it. It can be applied with spraying equipment, paint brushes, rollers or hard brushes, always ensuring to leave a uniform coat on top of the surface.

Before applying the second layer, the first one must be left to dry perfectly to the touch. Once the second coat was applied, it must let it dry perfectly for 48 hours. For rough surfaces, it's recommended a first layer with Thermo Skold diluted with water to 50%
