Keep your feet protected from the elements this winter, in one of three new safety boots from Dr. Martens’ industrial range. Designed to safeguard tradesmen who must spend part, or all of their time outdoors, the new fully waterproof collection comes in three styles; TURBINE ST, SURGE ST and TORRENT ST. Particularly suitable for outdoor workers enduring prolonged exposure to the cold weather, the TORRENT ST 8-tie waterproof S3 boot has an abrasion resistant toe guard and 200g Insulation to provide total protection and comfort in extreme work environments. A padded collar and tongue also provides increased wearer comfort. The non-metallic, composite safety toe-cap eliminates cold transfer discomfort - commonly experienced with steel caps. The TURBINE ST safety rigger boot and SURGE ST 6-tie waterproof S3 boot are both made from industrial grade leather and nylon uppers, with abrasion resistant toe guard to provide total protection under extreme work environments. With a heat resistant outsole to 300ºC, all three boots carry the fixed European standard mark ISO 20345:2011 and SRC slip rating. Official figures from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE)¹ report over 4,000 cases of slips and falls at work during autumn and winter 2013/14 with construction racking up the highest number and second highest rate of falls. To help address this issue, the boots have slip resistant soles and a rugged rubber compound outsole with 90° heel block for ladder grip. Removable Smartmask PU cushioned footbeds for comfort and optimum toe protection have also been included to provide additional shock absorbing properties. The entire range features antistatic properties, a composite steel toe cap and Smartmask puncture resistant midsoles. “To keep safe, warm and dry this winter, it is imperative that industrial workers invest in quality protective footwear” said Jon Marchant, Global Category Manager at Airwair International Ltd - Dr. Martens. “Whether you work in construction, manufacturing, agriculture or oil and gas, the new industrial collection provides the warmth and insulation to protect your feet against adverse weather conditions and the stability and grip to help prevent accidents” he adds. Dr. Martens has drawn on over half a century of boot making experience for its Industrial Range of footwear. Technology has developed considerably over the last few decades but the premise for what is required has remained the same: comfort, protection and durability. For an added layer of warmth and a great fit, Dr. Martens also supplies specialist Doc’s Socks which feature padded terry cloth around the heel, ankle and underfoot for comfort. Available in UK sizes 6 to 13, the range is available from October 2015, please visit www.drmartens.com/Industrial for more information. WATERPROOF COLLECTION STRENGTHENS DR. • _ABOUT DR. MARTENS

Throughout Dr. Martens history, the brand has been adopted and subverted by countless rebellious characters, subcultures and tribes. These are the people who stand out from the crowd in their own unique way and for many, their journey of self-expression has always been accompanied by a pair of Doc’s. Dr. Martens celebrates these free-thinking individuals – from first time wearers to those who have been with the brand forever. These are the authentic characters that stand for something.

Dr. Martens air-cushioned sole, designed by German inventor, Dr. Klaus Maertens, was engineered primarily to meet the specific need of providing additional support and comfort for his broken foot. The Dr. Martens boot, that was then manufactured by R Griggs and Co, British boot makers, with its trademark yellow stitch, grooved sole and heel-loop, was a boot for workers, initially worn by postmen and policemen; comfortable, durable and lightweight in comparison to its competitors at the time.

A specific range of “Made In England” products are still manufactured in the Cobbs Lane factory, Wollaston, England which has been making footwear since 1901. It is the home of the original Dr. Martens boot and within this small factory works a close-knit team of people schooled in traditional shoe-making and the unique process that makes Dr. Martens like no other shoe on earth.

This is the factory where it all began; where the first pair of Dr. Martens boots rolled off the production line on April 1st, 1960. The manufacturing process has been fine-tuned and perfected ever since - from the cutting of the leather hides to the heat-sealing with a blade of fire that welds the air-cushioned sole to the upper.
