Contact the Lodge to book your
party, meeting or special event!
To my fellow Elks,
Several RW Lodge members and i have just returned from the 2017 State Convention held at the Alexandria MN Lodge! Conventions are always a great time to meet other passionate Elks and discuss new programs or ideas to try in our Lodge. Next June, our Lodge will be hosting the 2018 State Convention . Red Wing has hosted conventions in the past so we already know that it will take DOZENS of dedicated volunteers to help pull it off! We’ve already started planning and will be asking for help in the coming months to greet our guests, assist with meals, registration and other fun activities for the 2018 MN Elks State Convention!
During convention meetings, we hear reports on the various committees that make up our charitable programs. Here are a few facts that were shared:
The MN Elks Youth Camp was purchased in 1951 for $8,500. Today, the camp’s value is more than $13 million; it’s completely owned by the Minnesota Elks Association and over 700 kids are expected to attend this camp this summer including 18 kids from Red Wing at no cost to their families.
This year, the Elks National Foundation “give back” more than $33 MILLION or about $1.72 for every dollar donated. These funds help provide scholarships, grants for our bike rodeo & military school supplies, Hoop Shoot, Soccer Shoot, Drug Awareness Program and so much more! Please consider making a donation to ENF!
August 3-6 is River City Days - we have MANY opportunities for members, guests & families to volunteer to help: Beer Tent, Parking or walking in Parade. PLEASE consider volunteering for a few hours. Sign-ups are posted at the lodge.
On a final note, we have already paid all State and Grand Lodge assessments for all Red Wing #845 members for 2017-18. For those that have paid your dues—THANK YOU! If you haven’t yet paid, PLEASE drop them off or send them in as soon as you can.
Please keep our troops in your prayers. See you at the Lodge.
Fraternally, Lona Bignell Exalted Ruler

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE LODGE!!! From our Manager . . .
We started our the month of June with the cooking team of Cheryl Klair, Betsy Mahn, Sharon Lee and Bonnie Ku-bik, preparing a Lasagna dinner. This fabulous meal was a fundraiser for the Women’s Bathroom Remodel. Thanks so much for your efforts and fine cooking!
Thanks as well to “Cooking Team #1” which includes Dave & Jan Petersmeyer and Betty Borseth for their cooking during the month of June. A special thanks to Barb Gosman and Susan Henke for ALWAYS helping in our kitchen - we couldn’t do it without you!
Please keep us in mind for your anniversaries, birthday parties, meetings, showers and group get togethers. Summer months can be a little slower at the lodge - please remember to make use of the lodge and stop by when you can - thanks for your continued support!
The 2017 RW Elks Scholarship winners were honored at the RW High School Awards night in May. Each received a $1,000 scholarship awarded by Exalted Ruler Lona Bignell and were mentioned in our June Newsletter. An additional scholarship donated by Elks Member, Mike Engberg of Mike Engberg Con-struction for $1,000 was presented to
Kip Adams—Congratulations!
