PLANETA DROGA is a different kind of Fiasco playset in two ways.

Firstly, it is an homage to my brother, and is inspired by his struggle with addiction. It is also some-thing I wrote to help get the word out about the second edition of my brother’s biography.

Secondly, this playset turns the whole concept of a Fiasco game on its head. How, you ask? Well, Fiasco is about people with ambition but poor impulse control, right? PLANETA DROGA is also about poor impulse control, but crucially, it is not about ambition.

The daily routine of an addict, a junkie if you will, is one of many small struggles. Such as being able to pull it together just enough that you can go to a family party, or convincing a loved one that you can still change, or trying to find a talent you had thought lost, or even just trying to claw back some of the time you have lost.

There are still other addicts who care less about keeping it together, and more about where the next fix is coming from, or how to grow pot inside the apartment without attracting the attention of the cops.

So, no great ambitions. But that doesn’t mean that thing can’t still go terribly wrong…

All it takes is for you to meet that old friend, still early in the morning, on the way to work, and then you find yourself in the wee hours of the night, without any money, nowhere to go, and an mons-trous dark need eating you from the inside.

If Fiasco is about people without self-control and seeking to fulfill ambitions, PLANETA DROGA is all about people without ambitions and seeking self-control. And a measure of peace…
