South Carolina Area 50 has experienced changes throughout the past 3 years. We have moved forward in using technology to share information in a timely manner. It was a start and we persevered through the trials and changes and have come out the other side wiser and more knowl-edgeable. We explored ways of improv-ing the fellowship of Al-Anon/Alateen through changes in our Area World Ser-vice Committee and Assembly format, the location of our SCAFG Convention, and the SCAC Alateen Conference. In June 2011 we are hosting our first TEAM event, replacing the Regional Service Seminar with a more accessible conference. We’ve experienced growth as the result of the turnover in some of the Area Coordinator positions. What remains important is that we continue to adjust to change, be flexible and sponta-neous. My hope for Area 50 is that we continue to seek growth and recovery using the Twelve Steps, the Twelve Tra-ditions and the Twelve Concepts of Ser-vice. The Panel 48 Group Representatives elected our new Area World Service Committee Officers at our October As-sembly. Congratulations our new Panel 51 Area Officers

Jan R. SC Area 50 Delegate Joyce H. Alternate Delegate Jeri W. Chairman Melanie M. Secretary Fran B. Treasurer

Congratulations to the new Group Rep-resentatives, District Representatives and various Group and District officers and coordinators. Our next Area World Service Committee Meeting is scheduled for Saturday January 8 at the State Mu-seum and the next Area Assembly is Sat-urday January 29, 2011. Ask someone you know who has not attended Assem-

bly to come along with you. Come with an open mind, come and support our new Panel 51. I would suggest that the outgoing officers provide a transition session with their successor. One item on our Assembly Inventory was the opinion that people did not feel pre-pared. We can correct this; be a service sponsor, be a service mentor. If you are an incoming officer and do not know what to expect, ask someone who has been here before. My challenge to you is to step up to service. There are plenty of opportunities at Group functions, Dis-trict Meetings, the Assembly, the Con-vention in February, the TEAM event in June or the Alateen Conference in July. Page 9 in the 2006-2009 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual states "the har-mony and success of each group de-pends on shared responsibility, a warm spirit of fellowship, and individual self-improvement." Thank you for allowing me to serve at all levels of this fellowship. I have ex-perienced growth, recovery and love. Thank you to those who worked dili-gently throughout the Panel. I had the opportunity to serve with a knowledge-able AWSC. I am not going away, but I am stepping into another service position on the AWSC, that of Past Delegate and will continue to share my experience, strength and hope. Fellowship Love, Susan L..

My term serving you as Area Secretary is drawing to a close. I want to thank all who helped in getting their reports to me for Area World Service Committee Meetings and Area Assemblies throughout the past three years. Thank you also for updating changes in your groups as to who would need to receive the min-utes and agendas. It has been a privilege to serve in this capacity for Area 50 South Carolina – Panel 48. The changes that have taken place in getting the minutes to you by email instead of snail mail have saved Area 50 hundreds of dollars each year. We are moving forward with technology and South Carolina – Area 50 is forward thinking in going in this direction. I have been very excited about this forward thinking that has been evolving over these past three years as we attempted to use the Links of Service in conveying this information to the Area – District - Groups. Congratulations to Melanie M. who will be assuming the duties of Area Secretary beginning in January of 2011 with Panel 51. Hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Look forward to seeing many of you at AWSC meetings, Area Assemblies and then in February at our Al-Anon/Alateen Convention. Fellowship Love, Nancy B. Area Secretary – Panel 48

OUR DELEGATE SPEAKS OUT

OUR DELEGATE SPEAKS OUT

As I enter the last few months of my term as

Delegate, I have been doing much reflecting

upon the lessons I have learned about the

Legacies. My entire term has been filled

with one lesson or insight after another ac-

companied by a study of the material con-

tained in The Al-Anon/Alateen Service Man-

ual and Paths to Recovery. The lessons or

insights have been many and varied, but

three in particular stand out as being more

important than the others. Concept Five,

Tradition Four, and Concept Ten have been

particularly relevant to my growth as a mem-

ber of the worldwide fellowship of Al-Anon

and Alateen.

Concept Five’s rights of appeal and petition

for the protection of the minority voice is

about the right to be heard not about the right

to get one’s way if one doesn’t like the out-

come of a vote. It does not mean that work

in progress will come to a complete halt nor

does it mean that a previous decision will

necessarily be reversed. It is simply about

being heard. Under Concept Five the major-

ity agrees to listen to the minority appeal, and

the minority in turn agrees to support the

informed group conscience which follows the

appeal. Concept Five does not dictate the

manner in which the majority must respond

to the minority nor does It say that the minor-

ity voice can continue to lobby to get their

way once the informed group conscience has

been reached.

Tradition Four reads as follows: “Each

group should be autonomous, except in mat-

ters affecting another group or Al-Anon or

AA as a whole.” The punctuation mark fol-

lowing the word autonomous is a comma not

a period. The comma means that conditions

apply to that autonomy. No service arm can

“do their own thing” to the detriment of an-

other service arm. As the convention chair-

person for 2002, my job was twofold. One part was

to make sure that the committees had everything

they needed to complete their responsibilities, and

the second part was to see to it that the guidelines

were followed; because information from Conven-

tion 2002 was to be passed to the Convention 2003

chairperson.

As a Delegate I have learned more about Concept

Ten than I have any of the other 35 Legacies. What

I used to consider delegation was in fact “dumping”.

Delegation has the following elements which are

lacking in “dumping”:

1. clearly set parameters including a description of

the task, the

expected outcome, and the date of completion

2. a detailed discussion of the task by all parties

involved to clarify

any points of misconception

3. periodic checks with the delegatee to make sure

there are no

problems

4. accountability by all parties

5. an ultimate authority in the event of failure to

complete the task

as per the parameters of the delegated task

Currently, I am using the model I learned from the

World Service Conference. When I delegate a task,

I spend a great deal to time on framing the task prior

to its introduction. Setting the parameters, discuss-

ing them thoroughly, communicating during the

task, and resisting the urge to micromanage the pro-

ject rather than just make the periodic checks takes

vigilance on my part. I try to keep in the forefront of

my mind that just as there are many paths which can

lead one to Al-Anon there are many ways in which

a task may be accomplished.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of

the Al-Anon members in South Carolina for allow-

ing me the privilege of serving as your Delegate for

the last three years.

Love and fellowship, Linda R. SC Delegate Panel

I want to thank each one of you reading this for your support and encouragement the last 3 years. When asked to be Area 50 Public Outreach Coordinator my reply was " It is a honor to be asked". When I asked others if I should serve no one said don't do it. So when your asked to serve, try. As many of you have heard me say "All you have to do is ask." I feel the State of SC does a great job of getting the word out about Al-Anon to others still suffering. Leaving Hope, leaving AFA in Dr's offices, treatment centers, Libraries, writing articles for local Newspaper, digital signs, magazine articles, even a news report on Columbia, SC TV station and letter writing to Lawyers and Clergies, and attending Community Outreach fairs just to name a few actions of this membership has done for Public Outreach. Dear Abbey has been a frequent supporter of Al-Anon. Recently I was watching "Teen Moms" season final on MTV. Dr Drew was interviewing one teen couple and he suggested to the teen father that he would benefit from attending Al-Anon. That it is a support group for family members of alcoholics and meeting are found all over the country. The young man's father was sent to court ordered Rehab. This young couple gave their child up for adoption because they wanted to break the cycle. This show will air several times in reruns. Think of the number of young people this show may reach. Giving young people information about Al-Anon could change their lives at an earlier age. Watching this show with your teens may encourage them to attend Al-Ateen. You can watch the season final episode on the Internet at the MTV web site. We have seen the growth of our newest outreach tool " Al-Anon Faces Alcoholism" each year the number sold increases greatly. The new PSA will be coming soon. The next deadline is in Feb. for April 2011 shipment. The Holidays are a time of when others may be suffering more and please consider leaving literature at Salvation Army, Woman's shelters and with counselors. Please think about winter and start planning Spring projects. The WSO announced an Outreach Poster Contest. They would like any poster ideas, or posters we have already used. You may send CD, format of poster to the WSO office. This is an on going contest, members have been asking to purchase posters for outreach. Prior to the Jan. 2011 Assembly please check within your Districts for the Public Outreach notebook and send it with the new rep from your District. If you are interested in being part of Public Outreach on any level please let you GR, DR and or Area Rep know. Love in Service Dian R

WORDS FROM OUR

ALTERNATE DELEGATE

Soon it will be time to turn over the reins of Alter-nate Delegate to Joyce H. in January as Panel 51 be-gins its three year term. There are still group change forms to be submitted for the database I am working on to pass onto Joyce. When these forms are sub-mitted to me, I forward the information to WSO which then provides WSO with the information so that groups receive their Forums and any informa-tion from WSO. If your group information is not updated through complete filling out of the Group Change Form prior to the end of my term, it will affect the group from receiving minutes and the other business that Area 50 will be conducting. What will be missed the most will be greeting peo-ple as they arrive at Area Assemblies. It has been a pleasure serving Area 50 – South Carolina for the past three years as your Alternate Delegate/Group Records Coordinator. See you at Area Assembly in January and also in February at the Al-Anon/Alateen Convention. Wes B.

Look forward to work with Jan H. who will be our new Alateen Coordinator for Panel 51 – Area 50 South Carolina. It has been a pleasure with the team that took over to assure a successful Alateen camp this past July. Jan will continue to do an excellent job in serving the teens. I look forward to seeing everyone at Area Assemblies and our convention in February. See you soon.

Convention 2011 Report

The 2011 Convention Planning Committee has been working extremely hard on plans for February’s Con-vention at Springmaid Beach. All District Representatives should have distributed Registration forms to Group Representatives for there groups. Remember the dead line for registration discount is January 3, 2011 . Com-munications Committee is making sure that workshops, hospitality, speaker rooms and all entrances are easy to locate with plenty of signs. Workshop Committee is providing members with a variety of workshops throughout the day beginning on Thursday afternoon. Speaker Committee has chosen speakers that are exciting and have worked their program for years. Our quilt is on the raffle block and ready to be shown in February. All groups should have their pictures and tickets to purchase before hand. The quilt is titled ‘Serenity ‘ . There will be baskets for raffle also. The time is quickly approaching so send those registration forms in today! 2011 Convention Chairman Joyce Hord

SC Area 50 Alateen Representative

To the Alateens of the State: I don't have that much to update you on, but what little I do is important. First off, the Al-Anon Con-vention is coming up soon and I hope a lot of Alateens from all over the state will come to this family group event. Second I would like to inform you that we have a new Area Alateen Coordinator... and it is Jan H., an Alateen sponsor from the Easy Does It, Beaufort group in District 6. There has also been talk of the forming of an Alateen GR e-mail list to get better communication among the Alateens representing groups. I have also heard talk of a new position that may become available to Alateens: a District Representative position, I hope to hear more about this in the next Area meeting and also hope to get your input on this idea there. And lastly, I would like to offer my condolences to those of the Myrtle Beach Alateen meeting that had to be closed. That's all for now, Gene W. Alateen State Rep.

DISTRICT ONE

We still do not have anyone who will take any position at the District level. We do however have a new Pendelton meeting night and also a new group that has started in Taccoa, GA. A member of the Walhalla Hope for Today took the lead in starting the Monday night meeting. It meets Monday night at 6PM.They are 3 weeks into their meetings and have an average of 10 members so far. Way to go Taccoa. Karen L. , District 1

District 2 is still thriving within their groups. We have held one District Meeting since our last Reflector re-port. Elections were held and filled positions of Secretary, Treasurer, and also Public Outreach Coordinator on September 19, 2010. Unfortunately District Representative and also Alternate District Representative was not filled. Our next District Meeting will be held on November 21, 2010 in Lancaster . We will address once again these two positions. Several groups have held elections with a few new Group Representatives and also new Treasurers. There have been several that have members stand for Public Outreach Coordinators with in their group. District 2 has also been involved in Convention 2011 Planning and several members stepping up to the plate to serve on Workshops, Hospitality, Entertainment. Leaving the business of soon to be vacant District Representative position to my Higher Power. I know that he will handle this with someone that is willing and excited to carry on the message . I have to believe that there is someone that longs for the experience and the rewards of serving. Serving as District Representative has been such a privilege to me and I am grateful for the all the Group Representatives that I have had the honor to serve with. Looking forward to watching District 2 continue to grow in the Al-Anon program both spiritually and in service. Respectfully in Service Joyce H. District Rep.

Congratulation one and all and I hope that you will all have a fantastic learning experience on this new journey that you are about to begin. We held our annual Attitude of Gratitude on October 16, 2010 in Williston hosted by the Barnwell AFG. We want to again express our gratitude to the Barnwell group for always being there for their part in serving the district and Al-Anon. Linda gave her delegates report which included a skit enjoyed by all. We had lots of delicious food, great fellowship, and a raffle. Our afternoon speaker was Georgia N. from Atlanta, Georgia. We want to thank Jeri W. for opening her home and being a fantastic host to the speaker over the week end. I am looking forward to the rotation of the DR position and wish Jane the very best. Our next district meeting is November 13, which will be a transition meeting not sure of the location at the moment. Thanks for the op-portunity to be of service to the district these last three years. I will be looking forward to see everyone at as-semblies etc. Happy Travels. Verna Smith DR

Last District meeting September 12 our district voted in our new 2011 DR, Margaret Lattimore. Our District is so excited about Margaret stepping up for this position, however we are still in need of an ALT DR. Adding to the list of up coming GR’s, Alt GR’s and Treasurer that were mentioned in last Reflector we now have Pam H elected as Treasurer for Hope For Today, James elected for Treasurer of In Good Hands. Mark your calendars District 4 Holiday Dinner is December 11 at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church downtown Columbia. Next and last District 4 meeting this year is November 14th! For those Al-Anons and Alateens thinking about stepping up for a 2011 service position: Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. -- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.— District 4 Rep Mary C. Warden

cess. Our own Alateens contributed to the events in-cluding Gene W serving as Chair, Kelsey G, sharing her story for the first time, Tanner P & Cal L from Beaufort’s Easy Does It Alateen, and Thea S, GR with her Ultimate Alateens led workshops. Twenty-something teens from Dist 6 were able to attend with the generosity of financial support from our Dist 6 fellowship. A stunning array of handmade masks & costumes were sported by ALL for the Saturday night dance. A highlight from the annual event is that both newly elected Alateen Area officers are from our groups. Gene W, (Beaufort’s Easy Does It Alateen) was re-elected for a 2nd year as Alateen State Repre-sentative and Olivia S (Summerville’s Together We Can Make It Alateen) will be the new Alternate. District 6 held our first (in several years) All FUN! Day. Members were treated to a delightful summer gathering and potluck with the focus on recovery through service. The day included an Alateen skit, Bob C, GR May River Sunset in Bluffton shared his service story followed by an open mike with many of our active members (+ one visiting newcomer) shar-ing their recovery through Al-Anon service. Coordi-nated by Alternate DR, John C and Treasurer, Becky B, this event provided GRs fodder to take to home groups in planning their own elections. HOT NEWS: Joan A from St. Louis & a former visiting member to Hilton Head Thursday night AFG, has moved permanently to HHI. She created a plan for re-opening the meeting that had been inactive for over a year. The doors reopened September 2!

BREAKING NEWS: A handful of Al-Anon mem-bers from groups in Beaufort, Bluffton & Hilton Head participated in a Youth Conference in Septem-ber that was targeted to students in Beaufort County, grades 6-12. We have now established new contacts in the schools and also with counselors from our lo-cal Drug and Alcohol organization to explore the possibility of starting Alateen meetings in the schools. The timing is in line with our district-wide public outreach project to provide GR’s with Al-Anon/Alateen information packets to distribute in their own communities to middle and high school counselors and also to medical healthcare facilities. Respectfully submitted,

Jan Horan, DR

END OF AN ERA: WOW – Time flies when you’re having fun. I want to thank all our Area & District officers and coor-dinators, Alateens and Al-Anon members for their important role in spreading the business news through our links of ser-vice. We in District 6 have worked hard to keep the flow of information moving among our members and we have grown in our recovery learning and sharing. Looking back over the past 3 years, many of our members have participated in service positions for the first time and other continued serving after leaving Area responsibilities. Among the efforts were…. serving on the 2010 SC Al-Anon Convention, coordinate and /or assist with the 2010 Alateen Conference, serving as a district, group or area officer, coordi-nator, committee member, hosting a district meeting, bringing food to a potluck, helping with carpool plans, serving on the committee to research & plan the first TEAM event in 2011, leading a workshop, chair, present or sharing at our District All-Day, serve as a guest speaker, providing Alateen Certifica-tion training workshops, participating in a public outreach event in their own community, providing a report on your own, your group or your district efforts, opening a second meeting day for your group, standing for 2011 group office, bringing new life to a group that had become inactive and re-opening the doors, brought a newcomer to a meeting , called a member for help… and the list goes on. District 6 fellowship has benefitted from the work of outgoing officers & coordinators. Their efforts now turn to welcoming and assisting others in the transition of new leaders. At our Sept 11 district meeting, elections were held and all officers were put in place. There must be something in the Summer-ville water, as all live in this fine community. John C will serve as our new DR, Julie H as Alternate DR, Mike S as Treasurer and Gabby (ALTEEN!) will serve as our new Secre-tary. On Nov 13, our last District meeting of the year, we will continue filling all the Coordinator Positions. OLD NEWS: We have some catch up news from the sum-mer, after my absence to report in the last newsletter. Thanks to so many of you for heartfelt cards and good wishes support-ing me in my travel back home to Indiana for my mother’s passing. Another sad loss followed with the loss of Mary Kay T, GR of Hilton Head Thursday Night AFG. Her husband, Mike passed away late summer. Services were held on the island with many members of both AA and Al-Anon present. ALATEEN NEWS: In July, many of our members helped to make the 2010 SCAFG Alateen Conference a booming suc-

District 7 has been trudging ahead, trying to gather all the information re-quested/required from the State and WSO as to keeping that meeting schedule up to date, as well as the changing trusted servant membership active. I can only stress to the members (GR's) the importance of having current informa-tion; but one can only lead a horse to water . . . . . . . Pam C is our PI person, and is finishing out her 3-year term in this ser-vice. She has managed to win yet another award for our district. Congratula-tions, Pam, and thanks for all your hard work. Elizabeth W continues to provide up to date information in our district 7 (and 6) website, where the most current meeting schedule may be found. We also had a great report of the Al-Anon All Day celebration, presented by Cindy B and Michelle D. Check the district website for pictures of the fun and games! Bohicket Group seems to have produced some real trusted servants, in that two have been named to serve on the up-coming 2011 board as treasurer and secretary; congratulations Marianne P and Cindi T! And now, for our special treasure (A MAN ! ! !) Dennis V accepted the job of the new District Represen-tative; even though he will be leaning on Nancy G (Alternate DR) for computer help - - - he is well experienced and versed in 'principles above personalities, and an unwavering worker for our precious Alateens. Congratulations Dennis, and Nancy G. The coordinator jobs are as yet unnamed. It is refreshing and hopeful to see the people step forward to do this wonderful service work for the district, as well as for the state. It has been my pleasure to know, love, and serve all of you. I shall continue to serve quietly (I hope) in the background, with encouragement and any support requested to be of help. Thank you - everyone - for allowing me the honor to serve you. With much humility and love, Bee Lindfors (Outgoing) District 7 Representative

District 10 held their meeting on October 17. 2010. Updates on Area officers and Assembly were shared. All GR’s were given the Quilt packets and en-couraged to attend the upcoming convention. We have decided to contact local Ministers as our outreach project for 2011. Our next meeting will be February 8th. Marie Juhl

Well this is it! The time to complete a task and move on to something new. From "Hope For To-day," April 10, "Miracles happen in Al-Anon, but they don't happen by magic. Individual participa-tion, "the key to harmony" according to Concept Four, is the behavior that makes the miracles hap-pen. The God of my understanding wants me for my availability as well as for my abilities." I am so greatful to my Higher Power for wanting me and for giving me the courage to answer the call to ser-vice. Without my Higher Power, I would not be able to do anything because on my own, I am too inadequate. I am greatful also to my service sponsor and to everyone who advised me in any way, shape or form as district rep and there were many. I am excited to welcome Mary Ellen R. as the new DR for District 8 and know that she will be able to fill this office beautifully. She steps up to service with total dedication and I think we are in for a great three (3) years. I believe that we have a great district. One that is strong and willing and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of it. I thank each and every GR and mem-ber who has contributed to the past three years to accomplish all we set out to do. Since the last Re-flector the group, New Beginnings of North Myrtle Beach, is starting a Beginner's Meeting on Novem-ber 1st and we will have a new meeting starting in Conway on Wednesdays. We have an ongoing Pub-lic Outreach Project with the local police and correc-tional facilities also. We had our All Day on September 25th and although we had a small turn out, we had a great time and it was a beautiful day for the beach. We missed you! With this I will bid you farewell as DR, but look forward to my new po-sition as Area Secretary. In Gratitude & Al-Anon Love, Melanie

DISTRICT 9 DISTRICT 8

District 9 met on Sept.21, 2010. Several newly elected G.R.'s were present. It was nice to see new faces at the district meeting. Election of officers was held. All positions were filled except for the treasury position. G.R.'s were asked to take this back to their groups to see if someone might be interested. This will be brought back up at our next meeting. Again groups were reminded of the Convention in Feb.2011 at Myrtle Beach and our districts participation in the planning of this convention. Also groups were re-minded of the upcoming Assembly in Col.Oct. 2, 2010. District 9 Al-Anon contributed literature to Faces and Voices of Recovery (FAVOR) for their Gifts of Recovery Festival held on Saturday, Septem-ber 25,2010 at the Peace Center Amphitheatre and Pavilion on the riverfront in downtown Greenville,S.C. This is a late afternoon/early evening event with free admission. FAVOR was anticipating 800 to 1000 attendees. Our 2010 Al-Anon and Ala-teen Spiritual Renewal Day was held on Sept. 25 at Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center in Marietta, SC and was a HUGE success. This was a new loca-tion for our all-day. Jackie W. was the chairman for this event and she worked hard to put this day to-gether. The itinerary included a speaker, workshops, a luncheon buffet, skits, and raffles. The new location is in a beautiful setting. The funds raised from this event help the district with our answering service and our public outreach projects during the year. Our next district meeting will be on Nov. 16, 2010. Plans for the holiday dinner will be made at this meeting. It is hard for me to believe this is my last Reflector report for District 9. Three years ago I wondered why I had volunteered for this position and also many times dur-ing the three years I wondered the same thing! But I knew my Higher Power was with me and I never felt alone. So many times, I have turned things over to my H.P. and said I can't do this I need help. Help was al-ways there. I only had to ask. I feel priviledged to have served with some great officers in my district, other districts and also at the state level. Being Dis-trict 9's District Representative for the past 3 years has been a truly rewarding experience for me. Love in Service, Vickie L. District 9

FORUM COORDINATOR

First, I want to remind the fellowship that the WSO members’ website has 3 blogs on the legacies, traditions, and concepts. Chal-lenge yourself and your group members for a commitment to share each month on the 3 legacies. Please remember that the blog is not CAL; however, sharings will be compiled into a book on the three legacies scheduled for 2013. Find at www.al-anon.alateen.org/members and click on the triangle, and enter your group nameafg as password. Encourage your members to obtain Forum subscription and use The Forum for meetings and for personal recovery. Our area is in the top 10 for subscriptions/group; we were in the top 5, but although we went up total subscriptions, other areas went up more. To keep The Forum healthy, continue to spread messages of The Forum. Encourage newcomers to read it. Use the Forum for meeting topics on the connection between steps/traditions/concepts. Write for The Forum, and send you sharings in. I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you some of the discussion of the October Fellowship Communication commit-tee (which Maureen B generously took notes for). We had some discussion of how to use CAL in meetings. Some ideas:

W Use meditation roulette: Have CAL in middle, spin wheel to choose a book for a meditation/reading.

W Slogans: pick one and find a reading.

W Make up crosswords or word search (software available on the web) on Al Anon and CAL.

W Grab a tool (a pamphlet, a reading, or a bookmark) and answer how would you use it?

W In District 9, Dale did a skit on literature. A newcomer asked questions, and answers came from CAL.

We followed with an open discussion: What would you like for the next panel? At group, district, area level on literature? Some ideas: 1. Sequence your meeting to include literature night. 2. Study a book, 1-2 paragraphs read and share. 3. Raffle books, $.50/ticket to help those with not much money. Group pays for the books. 4. Newcomers: Give idea about what is in literature (there's a summary sheet catalog that the literature coordinator should share) is all about. Get 'How Al Anon Works' 5. be sure to lay out your literature. 6. Tell newcomer about literature with an orientation. 7. District give $ to groups to give extra forum to a person or group. 8. Book Study, pamphlet study which reference a book. 9. Ask your group to write, give a topic, start out with a fill in the blank such as 'How does tradition 1 affect my obsession?' 10. Ask people if they will share their writing with Forum. 11. After discussion, ask people to journal. 12. Challenge districts to submit writing or photo to Forum. 13. Challenge people to write their story on their birthday and submit to Forum. What should the Fellowship Commununications committee do in the next 3 yrs? Some ideas. 1. Write annual letter from Lit Coordinator on What is CAL? 2. Explain the copyright information and how we can do it correctly with limited use in a meeting. 3. Encourage group to give service manual to newcomers. 4. Give Forum subscriptions as gifts. 5. Use pamphlets and bookmarks. Thanks for all the support over the last three years. I want to remind the area that The Forum is the only piece of literature that is sent to each group each month. If that is of value, and I believe it is, we all need to keep it healthy; that means subscribing to it, writ-ing for it, sponsoring gift subscriptions, and, most of all, reading it and using for our personal and our group recovery. See you all soon! Huggs, Tom
