Cashless Rural India

In our regular meeting on December 30, 2016, the chief guest was Mr. Manish Agarwal, Regional Head (GM) Punjab, Himachal, Chandigarh and Haryana of CSC eGovernace Services India Limited Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (Govt. of India). President Rtn. Amarjit Singh welcomed the chief guest and his senior manager Ms. Komal Singh.

Manish Agarwal

Mr. Manish Agarwal was introduced by President Nominee Rtn. Ashok K. Puri. Manish Agarwal did BSc. Statistics in 1997 from Science College (Jiwaji University) Gwalior. In 2000 he did MBA, Sales and Marketing from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. Mr. Manish Agarwal gave a very comprehensive analysis about Cashless India though an impressive audio visual presentation. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna has been launched. Now almost all households have bank accounts, everybody has Adhaar numbers and every Indian has a mobile phone. By using JAM – Jan dhan, Adhaar and Mobile we can move towards becoming a cashless society.

With Jan dhan account there is RuPay card also which will be used for both, debit and credit. There is also a small instrument, Point of Sale – POS where you can pay money to anyone using Adhaar or RuPay card. Transactions through mobile phones will be very easy. Post offices have also been equipped for banking services. If we use these systems there would be no need of currency notes. As today we all are dependent on mobile phones, we shall soon progress towards cashless and digital India. Cashless Society will also curb illegal trade and black money.
