Prof. Rana Nayar, Rtn. Dr. Harinderjit Kaur and Rtn. Dr. Shashi Jain The winning Rotaractors with Rotarians and the family of Rtn. Vijay Kumar Gupta, son of Late Rtn. Vishnu Kumar Gupta Annual Vishnu Gupta Memorial Debate held on February 10, 2017 had a record participation with a total of 68 teams (136 Rotaractors) registered for the event. Maximum participation was from Rotaract Club of Vidyajyoti Eduversity, Dera Bassi. This event was meticulously planned within a short span of time by Secretary Sundeep Singh Sawhney, who also conducted the debate in the preliminary and final rounds. The subject matter of the debate was ‘Demonetization’. Judges for the final round were: Prof. Dr. Charanjeet Kaur Sohi, Principal, Guru Gobind Singh College for Women Sector 26, Chandigarh Mr. Dinesh Kumar, Associate Editor, The Tribune, Chandigarh Prof. Dr. Jagdish Kumar Sehgal, Principal, Post Graduate Govt. College Sector 11, Chandigarh They were formally introduced by PP Rtn. Gurdip S. Deep. The winners of the debate were; 1 st Position - Rtr. Gurpalak Kaur, Rtr. Harleen Kaur, 2 nd Position - Rtr Madhurima, Rtr. Sheenam Bhardwaj and 3 rd Position - Rtr Shreyas Jain, Rtr. Tushar Gupta. Trophies and awards were presented to the winners by President Amarjit Singh, PP R.K. Luther, PP Gurdip S. Deep, PP Ritu Singal and by the family members of Late Rtn. Vishnu Gupta who were present in the meeting: Rtn. Vijay Kumar Gupta with his daughter Razul and son Kartik, Surya (son of his elder brother Mr. Ashwini Gupta) and Mudit (son of his younger brother Mr. Ajay Gupta). Mementos were presented to the Judges of the final round by PDG Shaju Peter, PP Dr. Balram K. Gupta and PP Dr. V.J.S. Vohra. In addition to preliminary round Judges Rtn. Dr. Harinderjit Kaur, Rtn. Dr. Shashi Jain, Rtn. Prof. Rana Nayar, other Rotarians who actively participated to make the event a grand success were: PP Prem Anand, Rtn. Ashok Puri, Rtn. Sanjay Bhatia and PP Vinod Jawa. Skit on ‘Save the Girl Child’ and Swachh Bharat abhiyan at Plaza, Sector 17, Chandigarh

‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, initiated by our club was presented as a skit at Plaza in Sector 17, Chandigarh by a team of 11 Interactors directed by Ms. Rajwant, a lecturer at Govt. Model School Manimajra. This was the first public performance of this ‘nukkar natak’ before a crowd of over 200 people. The event was organized by Rotaractors of Chandigarh Midtown, in the presence of DYS Rtn. Salil Chopra and Rtn. Ravinder Jain.

Swachh Bharat campaign was also undertaken.
