About our coloring book:
In celebration of our 40th year, we are pleased to make this second volume of our adult coloring book available to the patients of Duke University Hospital.
Arts & Health at Duke was founded in 1978 by James H. Semans, MD, in collaboration with Wayne Rundles, MD, professor of hematology and then-president of the American Cancer Society. First known as Cultural Services, with initial funding provided by the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, the program originally offered monthly musical performances for patients by transforming the hospital cafeteria into a concert hall.
Our mission today has evolved from those first musical performances, and we now provide a wide range of quality literary, performing, and visual arts programming to Duke University Hospital patients, and those who care for them.
In keeping with our 40-year tradition of supporting the artwork of our regional artists, we have featured within these pages a series of original linocuts of the natural world of the Duke community, created by Bill Gregory, Visual Artist in Residence with Arts & Health at Duke.
We hope this coloring book brings you many hours of delight and comfort.
