    VOLUME III, ISSUE 3

Customer Feedback option is made available to public through India Post Website (www.indiapost.gov.in) and India Post Mobile App (Postinfo). This option is available from 16/02/2018. Any citizen of the country who avails any service from India Post can provide star rated feedback on the quali-ty of service rendered by India Post. The star rated feedback can be provided for any Mail service (Speed Post/Registered Post/Ordinary Post) or Financial services (Money remittance/Banking/ Insurance) or Philately service rendered by particu-lar Post office. The customer can also provide his comments / suggestions, if (s)he so desires. The Feedback reflects the Customer’s viewpoint on a particular service at a par-ticular post office. Therefore, based on the overall percentages thus arrived, both at product level and at office level, suitable inferences can be drawn about the areas to be improved.

The Readers are requested to popularize this feature amongst the customers!

    VOLUME III, ISSUE 3

A new feature has been imple-mented in the CCC Module with effect from 01/02/2018 which replaces the Traditional Search Bills. This feature ena-bles the user to assign the E-SearchBill to the last scanned office of the article and the E-SearchBill will move from one office to other in CCC Module itself. Thus, reducing the time involved in movement of the Search Bill drastically.

E-SearchBill has been given higher priority in the CCC Module. Thus, any pendency therein will be highlighted in the home page of CCC module itself with a blinking red text.

New option to enter compensation details in case of lost articles has been implemented

as a part of E-SearchBill. The E-SearchBill button will be visible for all type of mail articles (i.e. not for Banking or

other complaints). Around 3000 E-SearchBills have been created from 01/02/2018 to 19/02/2018.

    IPS RESOURCES UPGRADATION

  • Customs authorities are an important part of the postal lo-gistic chain. The time that mail items spend at customs is a substantial part of postal end-to-end performance. To de-crease end-to-end throughput time and to increase custom-er satisfaction for international mail, it is absolutely neces-sary to automate customs processing for mail as much as possible.

Designated Postal Operators are already quite advanced in using information technology and the linking of their auto-mated international mail management systems by the use of Electronic Data Exchange (EDI). The UPU is facilitating Postal Customs clearing and address Security issues through the introduction of electronic pre-advice and clear-ing - Customs Declaration System.

CEPT is in the process of introduction and implementation of Customs Declaration System for India Post.

Scientists have developed a new type of neural network chip that can dramatically improve the efficiency of teaching machines to think like humans.

The network called a Reservoir Computing System, could predict words before they are said during conversation, and help predict future out-comes based on the present.

Reservoir computing systems, which improve on a typical neural net-work’s capacity and reduce the required training time, have been created in the past with larger optical components.

Researchers from University of Michigan in the U S created their system using memristors, which require less space and can be integrated more

    easily into existing silicon-based electronics.

Memristors are a special type of resistive device that can both perform logic and store data.

This contrasts with typical computer systems, where processors perform logic separate from memory modules. [Courtesy: The Hindu, 25/12/2017]
