15 CCD Christmas Program
Dear Parishioners,
This week I listened to a great talk from Bishop Robert Barron, that was posted on “Word on Fire”. He was giving the talk to Catholic School Administra-tors in Vancouver. The topic was evangelization. He made a really good distinc-tion, between evangelization and apologetics. When we think about evangeliza-tion our minds go directly to sharing our faith with others. This sharing is many times focused on the sharing of facts or knowledge that we have about Je-sus. This sharing is apologetics, whereas evangelization is sharing our encounter with the living and active person, Jesus. He says that we cannot be an evangelist is we do not know Jesus, and if we have not experienced His love. He says that what will attract people to the Catholic faith is passion and knowledge. We need both, evangelization and apologetics, to address the problem of a large group of people with no faith in our country.
This introduction is the reason I am using Flocknote right now. I intend to continue to use Flocknote to share a passion for Jesus and a knowledge of Him. The responsibility to evangelize is a universal call for all Catholics, and we need to grow in both, our passion and knowledge of our faith. The weekly note to encourage spending time in prayer before Jesus present in Eucharist, is going to increase our passion for our faith. I like the word “radiate” that Fr. Anthony used for spending time in front of Jesus in the Eucharist. His love radiates from the Blessed Sacrament to us, when we are in His presence. We will only experi-ence this profound radiant love, if we spend time in His presence. I think we be-come too familiar with this teaching of the Church and we take it for granted. I know I take it for granted, and I have the easiest access to spending time in the Church. There are times that I feel that I am too busy, or I will do that later, and then at the end of the day I find myself too tired to give my best time to Je-sus. When I do get up and take time in Church for an hour, I walk out and say to myself, “Why did I wait so long to experience His love!” I encourage you to con-sider spending time with Jesus during this Advent season. I assure you the en-counter with Him will help you to have a more joyful celebration of Christ-mas! God Bless you.

Flocknote? What’s that? Most churches can’t reach their people when they need to — in between Sundays or if a person stops showing up on Sundays. Flock-
note help churches fix that with a way to text messages and email their members.
Stay informed with what is going on at St. Vincent’s by signing up to receive text message and email alerts right to your phone! Text: MYSTVINCENT

Guardian Angel Tree You are invited to prayerfully consider supporting the
families of St. Vincent de Paul this Advent by making
a donation to the Guardian Angel Fund.
This is a fund that provides tuition assis-
tance to our parish families, so that all
families that wish to have a Catholic edu-
cation for their children, can do so. This fund is more
important than ever because of the rising costs of
education and the effects that the pandemic has had
on families. Below is a summary of what was paid
out from the fund over the last 3 years:
2019-2020: $4,265 2020-2021: $5,025
2021-2022: $13,750 There is a guardian angel tree located in the narthex. Envelopes can be taken from there and put in the collection basket during Advent or dropped off at the church office. Thank you for your consideration and generosity. May you have blessed Advent!
Year End Gifts
