UAF PhD CLUB SWELLS TO 1119 On the recommendations of the external examiners and after fulfilling all the requirements, Muhammad Saleem S/o Muhammad Shareef, Reg. No. 2003-ag-1593, Institute of Horticultural Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammad Asif Khan S/o Muhammad Khan, Reg. No. 2003-ag-1778, National Institute of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology have passed the final examination for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (2013). The Vice Chancellor is pleased to sanction their admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The title of their PhD research were “Postharvest studies on Gladiolus grandiflorus L.”, “Characterization of oat bran β-glucan with special reference to efficacy study”. Now the number of UAF PhD club has been raised to 1119. SITUATION VACANT One seat of Research Associate is vacant after the resignation of Mr. Khawar Abbas, Research Fellow, in HEC funded project entitled “Doppler free saturated absorption atomic spectroscopy using tunable diode lasers” on consolidated pay of Rs. 10,000/- per month. The minimum qualification is M.Sc. Physics. The last date to apply being one week after the publication of this notice. BILLS FOR SEWING CHARGES OF LIVERIES All Deans/Directors/Principal Officers are requested to direct the employees working under their control, who have received liveries from the DPIC, may process bills of sewing charges @ Rs. 125/- per suit upto 31st March, 2014. AWARD OF HEC NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER & POSTGRADUATE LEVEL SESSION 2013-14 Consequent upon the recommendation of the Scholarship Management Committee (SMC) the Vice Chancellor has been pleased to award subject Scholarship w.e.f. winter semester 2013-14. (List of selected students can be seen at UAF website www.uaf.edu.pk). The award of above scholarship will be subject to observance of existing Scholarship Rules and Regulations of the University and that:- The payment will be released on satisfactory progress in studies, good conduct, regular attendance, failing which the scholarship will immediately by stopped and awarded to the next eligible candidate for the remaining period under the same terms and conditions. The above awardees are hereby advised to open their accounts in M.C.B. University Branch, and provide the necessary undertaking(s) on judicial paper Rs. 20/- alongwith original fee bank challan of 1st and 2nd Semesters before 10-04-2014. PLACEMENT OF PhD THESIS FOR PEER REVIEW Miss Shameem Raja, Regd. No. 2003-ag-1879, PhD student of the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics has placed her PhD thesis entitled “Breeding tomato for fruit production with urban sewage water” for Peer Review in the office of the Chairman, Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics on 26-03-2014 for one week. 2. Ms. Mubashra Yasin, Regd. No. 2006-ag-1445, a PhD student, Department of Agronomy, will defend her PhD synopsis on 29-03-2014 at 10:00 am in the Department of Agronomy, UAF as suggested by the Supervisory Committee. The title of her synopsis is “Multi-model Evaluation for Assessing Change Impacts on Maize Productivity in Semi-Arid Environment”. All interested persons are invited to participate.
3. Hafiz Muhammad Rafique, Regd. No. 2001-ag-258, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has successfully defended his thesis on 14-03-2014. The title of his thesis is

“Bioremediation of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil by indigenous bacteria in association with plant”.
4. Ms. Sadia Bibi, Regd. No. 2002-ag-1565, PhD student of the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences has successfully defended her synopsis in a seminar at the University level on 13-03-2014. The title of her synopsis is “Crop yield, soil properties and NO3-N distribution in soil profile in response to tillage, irrigation and fertilizer practices”.
HONOR FOR THE UNIVERSITY A Team of female students of IBMS has participated in Punjab Youth Festival 2014-Business Enterprenurship Plan Competition held on 12-02-2014 at GC University, Faisalabad. It is the matter great pleasure that UAF team secured first position at Divisional Level in the said competition. QUOTATIONS/BIDS Bid # 24/14: Sealed bids are invited from the registered firms of the UAF for purchase of Toner HP-Laser Jet CP-1525n Color for the Directorate of Financial Assistant & University Advancemet (DFA&UA) , UAF. The detailed and other pre-requisites can be had from the Directorate of Procurement & Inventory Control (DPIC) during closing hours. The bids should reach in the Directorate within 5 days from the date of the publication of the Campus News. The tender will be opened in the office of Executive Engineer in the presence of the contractors or their authorized agents who may care to be present. The executive Engineer of the University reserved the right to accept or reject any or all the tender without assigning any reason. The successful contractors will be required to carry out the works according to PWD specification entire satisfaction of the Engineer In-charge and within the specified limit, failing which a penalty of 5% will be charged from the bills. The earnest money 2% of bid value must accompany with the quotation otherwise the quotation will not be accepted. AUCTION NOTICE 1. One third of the total price will be recovered on the spot and the remaining amount will be received after the approval of competent authority. The price will be realized at the spot. Under Section 236A of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 Advance Income Tax @ 10% of the Sale Price of the Property/Goods being auctioned will be collected from the successful bidder. The competent authority reserves the right to accept or reject the highest bid without assigning any reason.
