VOL. 26 NO 23 JUNE 8, 2016 in 2016 FROM TIM… A GREAT VBS SO FAR! VBS week isn’t over yet, and it’s already been a lot of fun. This year we are learning about kings of the Bible: David, Solomon, Josiah, and Jesus. As always, the decorations are wonderful, the food is great, the rotation stations are well-done, and the skits are helping the kids laugh and learn. It’s been great for Bible learning and relationship- building alike. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in it! NEXT WEEK, WE HAVE VBS AGAIN, SORT OF! Next week we will be helping the Oakland Church of Christ with their VBS, with the same theme: Lifting Up the King. It will be Sun- day, Monday, and Tuesday nights from 6-8pm. So if your kids didn’t get enough VBS this week, take them over to Oakland for next week also. And if you can help with their VBS in any way, please let Aarek know. 12 MORE QUESTIONS, THIS YEAR’S SUMMER SERIES – In case you missed last summer: Last year we didn’t have our Wednesday night summer series because of our 12 Questions outreach, in which we asked Memphians, “If you could ask God one question, what would it be?” We explored the top 12 question-types in a 4 night seminar, which is still available online at www.12QuestionsMemphis.com. So now to this year: Next week (on June 15 th ) we begin our 2016 Wednesday night Summer Series, which will be a follow-up to last year’s 12 Questions campaign. The theme of those Wednesday night studies will be “12 More Questions: Faith Questions from Those Seeking God.” Some things to know about this year’s summer series: Our 12 studies will be “seeker questions” that are often asked about Christianity. We hope they will be good studies, both for seekers and for our own conversations with others who have questions. This series gives us one more chance to reach out to last year’s 12 Questions con- tacts. We have sent mailouts and emails to the addresses we were given last sum- mer. If you had follow-up responsibilities for any of our 12 Questions contacts, please try to reach out to them about this series. This series gives us another chance to advertise the 12 Questions Memphis website also. The seminar studies from last year are still there, so hopefully this series will encourage people to visit those, perhaps for the first time. We have plenty of wrist- bands and bumper stickers for us to help get the word out. We will livestream these summer series studies on our website, and the livestream will encourage viewers to send questions or comments through email or social me- dia. Similar to our seminar last year, except we won’t respond in live time, but we will answer questions privately later. If you know anyone who might be encouraged by these studies, please let them know about this series! We hope this can be a good conversation-starter to help us encourage faith to people God has put in our lives. And since it will be online, they can watch it from anywhere! Lifting Up the King...Wherever We Go! We will continue studying that theme from the Book of Acts Sunday morning. It’s going to be a great summer of lifting up the king!

My Dear Beautiful Church Family: Thank you for

your love, your thoughts, love and cards during my spell

of illness. Still recovering and will take sometime. I know

I am on the fast track of healing because I have all of you.

For some of you who don't know, I suffer from lung prob-

lems. This sickness that came up on me took its toll on my

lungs and made them weaker. They will never be 100%

but I manage because I have all of you. Doctors are not

sure at this time if it was a bacterial infection or a bad

case of food poisoning. I will heal from it but will always

have the lung problems. Just wanted to write this little

note to all of you and let you know that my family loves

you guys so much and loves worshiping at Great Oaks. In

Him, Rob Matthews

Beginning early this Thursday morning (June 9th), everyone is

asked to please use the entrance to the building that brings you

into the side of the building where we added the 300 education-

al wing. The pavers will begin very early this Thursday working on

our parking lot and hope to finish from the Great Oaks marquee

(mailbox entry side) all the way to the locking gate on Ellis by

Friday evening. Please help us by parking on the other side of

the building and entering through the double glass doors by Col-

ton’s office or the double glass doors of the educational wing.
