Here the guests had a unique opportunity to find out more about the advantages and benefits on coming business solutions, such as Vodafone IP Phone Pro, Seamless Navigation and Group Communication, or new service ideas including Vodafone Access Point and Mobile Webcam, as well as experiencing the latest embedded notebooks and business mobiles. One of the Innovation days’ live demonstrations The Vodafone Test & Innovation Center has implemented an enhanced Web- based reporting tool to automatically generate customized reports tailored to specific customer needs. The reporting has already been applied in more than 30 international test projects with vendors like Ericsson and Nortel Networks. The reporting tool frees the test project head from the burden of creating routine reporting tasks and provides automated status reports to all project stakeholders, e.g. weekly management summaries, detailed daily status reports or a final summary with project close. At the same time, customers expect a constant flow of new and innovative high-quality products at ever-decreasing prices. Vodafone copes with all these require- ments by managing quality during the whole product life cycle. Emphasis is laid on extensive validation of the final customer experience. The Vodafone Test & Innovation Center offers its services also to customers beyond Vodafone, All customers can benefit as well from the center’s extensive test expertise and end-to-end testing infrastructure that uses modern technology in a real-world multi- vendor network. and Smartcard Web Server. The second one focused on the Broadcast protocol (DVB-H).

The feedback from all the participants was extremely positive and the event received a new high-score rating in comparison with the previous twenty TestFest events. The rating covers 24 categories such as technical systems, onsite support and the overall organization.

Due to the excellent performance and the opportunities of the test facility the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center had been selected by the OMA to set up the pilot “Virtual TestFest” for worldwide remote testing.

The latest terminal prototypes can now be tested on each of the mobile communication technology platforms available within the Vodafone Group. In other words, the multi-vendor test environment now covers the communications protocols GSM (900 / 1800 MHz), GPRS, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA (2100 / 900 MHz).

The Vodafone Test & Innovation Center recently hosted the Open Mobile Alliance’s (OMA) regular two-week TestFest for the third time in its end-to-end multi-vendor test environment for evaluating the upcoming technologies of the next two years. Around 150 test experts representing more than 20 companies from more than 10 countries from all over the world joined the event.

The TestFest was divided into two test streams. The first one was dedicated to Enabler Releases and Specifications (Device Management, Digital Rights Management, Firmware Update Management, Client Server Protocol

UMTS 900 MHz Technology ready for Terminal Testing The Vodafone Test & Innovation Center, which provides centralized terminal testing services for the Vodafone Group, has successfully integrated the new 900 MHz UMTS (3G) technology within its test facility. It combines the speed of 3G technology with the favorable radio characteristics of the 900 MHz spectrum, i.e. wide area coverage.
