Statistical Facts: Source Census 2011

▰ According to the 2011 census, there are almost 26.8 million people with disability in India

▰ 14.9 million are men and 11.9 million are women with disability

▰ 18 million live in rural India where as 8.7 million in the urban India

▰ Only 0.15% of the total population have succeeded in getting employed.

▰ The State of Uttar Pradesh has the highest number of disabled persons (16% of the total disabled in the Country) followed by Maharashtra (11%).

▰ The share of the disabled persons in the remaining 17 States/ UTs to the total population of disabled persons is less than 1%.
