Features: This vacuum sealer helps keep your food fresher for longer in sealed airtight bags. Included with your vacuum sealer is a set of starter bags as well as this instruction manual. This model has some great features that make vacuuming your food even easier:

• Compact, slimline design for easy use and storage. • Wide sealing line prevents air leakage and keeps a high vacuum degree for longer. • Pulse function for more control during vacuuming, ideal for soft or delicate food. • Easy locking system – simply press the lid down to lock, and to unlock push the two buttons on

the underside to release the lid. • Seal function available for creating custom-sized bags, sealing during vacuuming, and even for

resealing foil packets such as crisps! It’s easy to use – simply lock the lid in place, press the vacuum button and let the sealer do the rest! The machine will continue to suck out the air and will then seal the bag, ensuring an airtight seal around your food. Vacuum sealing guidelines: Maximum sealing width is 28cm – provided bags should fit within this, but if making custom-sized bags, please ensure they are no wider than 28cm. Food safety & storage: For best results in enhancing the shelf-life of food, it’s important to start with fresh produce. Once food has begun to deteriorate, vacuum packing may only slow the process and cannot stop the food from spoiling. It is still possible for mould to be present, as well as other disease-causing microorganisms, as they can still grow in low oxygen environments and may require further measures to be eliminated. NOTICE: vacuum packing is NOT a substitute for refrigeration or freezing – any perishable food that requires refrigeration must still be refrigerated or frozen after vacuum packing. Preparation hints and tips: Vacuum packing makes the processes of thawing, cooking and reheating even easier. The vacuumed package keeps all liquid contained during thawing. You can reheat vacuum packed food in a microwave, as long as you puncture the bag to allow steam to escape, or reheat in a pan of simmering water on a low heat (below 75°C). Simmering in a vacuum bag helps food to retain its flavour and helps with the clean up as well – no dirty saucepans! IMPORTANT: always thaw food either in the refrigerator or the microwave – never thaw perishable food at room temperature. Preparing meat and fish: For best results, freeze meat or fish for 1-2 hours before vacuum packing. This helps retain the juice and the shape of the food, and provides a better seal. If this is not possible, place a folded piece of paper towel between the food and the top of the bag, leaving room before the sealing area – it’ll absorb excess liquid and ensure a good seal.

Preparing cheese: Vacuum pack cheese after each use – making a custom-sized bag that is slightly longer than needed will make it easier to reseal each time. IMPORTANT: due to the risk of anaerobic bacteria, soft cheeses should never be vacuum packed. Preparing vegetables: For best results, blanch vegetables before vacuum packing. This process stops the enzyme action that could lead to loss of flavour, colour and texture. To blanch vegetables, place them in simmering water or in a microwave until fully cooked but still crisp, then plunge into cold water to stop the cooking process. Simmering times can vary; we suggest:

• 1 to 2 minutes for delicate vegetables like chopped leafy greens and peas. • 3 to 4 minutes for small vegetables, such as green beans, sliced zucchini or broccoli. • 5 minutes for thicker vegetables like carrots or turnips. • 7 to 11 minutes for larger vegetables, like corn on the cob.

Vacuum packing vegetables is a great way to keep an eye on portion control – pre-freeze them for 1 to 2 hours, then separate into meal portions within the vacuum bags. After they have been vacuum packed, return to the freezer, and they’re ready for easy cooking when you next need them! NOTICE: all vegetables naturally emit gases during storage, so after blanching it is recommended they are stored in the freezer. IMPORTANT: due to the risk of anaerobic bacteria, fresh mushrooms, onions & garlic should never be vacuum packed. Preparing powdered foods: When vacuum packing powdery items like flour, it’s best to use their original packaging inside the vacuum bags. Otherwise, the fine powder could get sucked into the machine and cause damage that may shorten the life of the sealer. Preparing liquids: For best results, pre-freeze liquids such as soup or stock in a casserole dish, loaf pan or ice cube tray until solid. This makes the process easier, as you can remove the frozen liquid from your chosen container and simply place the solid mass into a vacuum bag to be sealed, also making them more suitable for stacking in the freezer. When ready to use, simply cut the corner of the bag and place in a microwaveable dish, or reheat in simmering water (below 75°C). Ensure the dish is large enough to accommodate all the liquid. Vacuum sealing process:

1. Place the food to be sealed into a pre-cut or a custom-sized bag, leaving at least 2 inches between the contents and the top of the bag to allow for the bag to contract.

2. Open the lid and place the open end of the bag down into the vacuum chamber. 3. Close the lid by pressing down – if it clicks then it is successfully locked in place. 4. To begin the process, press the ‘Vacuum’ button – the indicator light will turn on during sealing. 5. Once the indicator light is off, press the release button on each side of the machine to remove

the bag.

Fig A: Insert the open end of the bag into the vacuum chamber, the Fig B: press down on the lid to securely close, until it clicks. Creating a custom-sized bag: This requires a bag roll; not all models come with this so it may need to be purchased separately from the supplier.

1. Measure out enough bag material to hold the food to be packed, plus 2 inches to allow for shrinkage.

2. With a pair of scissors or a sharp knife, cut the desired length from the bag roll – ensure the cut is in a straight line.

3. Open the lid and place one end of the cut bag section onto the sealing strip (don’t worry if any material is accidentally place onto the gasket area).

4. Close the lid by pressing down – if it clicks then it is successfully locked in place. 5. Press the ‘Seal’ button to seal one end and create the custom-sized bag – the indicator light will

illuminate during the sealing process. 6. Once completed, the indicator light will turn off; press the release buttons on both sides of the

machine to lift the lid. 7. Remove the newly created bag – it is now ready for vacuum sealing!

IMPORTANT: ensure the appliance has time to cool down between seals – we recommend 20 seconds between each one. Under very heavy usage, the appliance will shut off automatically to prevent overheating; if this happens, wait 25 minutes to allow the appliance to cool completely. Cleaning and care: Please take care to follow these instructions when cleaning the vacuum sealer:

• Always turn off and unplug the unit before cleaning. • Never immerse in water. • Do not use abrasives to clean the unit. • To clean the outer surface, wipe with a soft, damp cloth. • To clean the inside of the unit, wipe away any food or liquid with a paper towel. • Dry all parts thoroughly before plugging in and operating the unit again. • The vacuum chamber may trap liquids that were drawn from the bag; use mild dish-washing

soap & a warm damp cloth to wipe away any liquid in the vacuum chamber and dry thoroughly. • Keep the lid of the appliance unlocked when not in use.

Troubleshooting: Nothing happens when pressing the ‘Vacuum’ button:

• Check the power cord is correctly plugged into the electrical outlet and switched on. • Make sure the power cord is not damaged in any way. • Check that the electrical outlet is working by plugging in another appliance; if it’s not, there may

be an issue with the circuit breakers or fuses in your home. • Check you have turned on the power switch on the machine. • Make sure the bag is positioned correctly down in the vacuum chamber. • Press down on both sides of the lid and make sure it is locked in place – it should click. • Wait 25 minutes to allow appliance to cool off, and then try using again.

Air is not vacuumed from the bag:

• Check that there are no gaps, folds, wrinkles or holes in the pre-sealed bags. • Check for loose, worn or cracked upper and lower sealing gaskets. • Food with high liquid content may prevent the bag from sealing properly; cut the bag open, wipe

the upper inside of bag and reseal. • Make sure the bag is properly inserted into the vacuum chamber. • When making a bag from a roll, make sure the end of the cut piece is on the sealing strip.

Bag melts:

• The sealing strip may have been too hot during the sealing process - allow the unit to cool for 20 seconds between uses; if the bag continues to melt, allow the unit to cool with the lid in the upright position for 25 minutes before using.

Air has seeped back into the vacuumed bag:

• Check the seal of the bag - there may be a hole or wrinkle that is allowing air to re-enter the bag; carefully cut the bag open and re-seal it, or use a new bag.

• Make sure there is no moisture or liquid from the food present within the bag seal - you may need to cut open the bag and re-seal it, or use a new bag; partially freeze foods with excess liquid prior to vacuum packing to ensure a better seal.

• Make sure there are no food pieces with sharp edges that may have punctured the bag, such as bones; if you find a puncture hole then seal the item in an entirely new bag.

• Make sure no liquids were drawn up to the sealing strip area. • Check for loose, worn or cracked upper and lower sealing gaskets. • Food with high liquid content may prevent the bag from sealing properly; cut the bag open, wipe

the upper inside of bag and reseal. Bag will not seal:

• Check that there aren’t any gaps, folds, wrinkles or holes in pre-sealed edges. • Food with high liquid content may prevent the bag from sealing properly; cut the bag open, wipe

the upper inside of bag and reseal. • Make sure the bag is properly inserted into the vacuum chamber. • When making a bag from a roll, make sure the end of the cut piece is on the sealing strip • Make sure you’ve given the appliance time to cool down - wait 20 seconds between seals.
