STEM Course DescriptionEastlake HS students will have the opportunity to select from the following courses, currently listed as a STEM endorsement for Computer Science.
Required Courses• Computer Science Principles• AP Computer Science A• Discrete Mathematics for Computer
Science• Computational Problem Solving
Extra Computer Science Electives(at least two are required)
• Robotics and Automation• Game Programming and Design• Mobile Application Development• Cybersecurity• Website Development• Independent Studies of Technology

Students Criteria• 3.0 Cumulative GPA• Comply with 90% required attendance rate• Reside in the Socorro ISD attendance zone• Application Packet must be complete and
submitted within the given time frame• Complete essay portion of application
packet• Submit and updated individual student profile
sheet with state assessment scores from previous year.
Course CriteriaEastlake HS students must meet the following criteria to complete the program requirements to earn the four-year endorsement in Computer Science.
Program RequirementsComplete a coherent sequence of courses for four or more credits in CTE that consists of at least two courses in the same career cluster
• Enroll in at least two P/AP credit courses in mathematics and science each year for four years
• Enroll in at least two Dual Credit and/or AP courses in the 11th and 12th grade
• Participate in a minimum of two years UIL competitions or current CTSO
• Complete a senior year project

Advanced Placement and Project Lead The WayComputer Science courses at Eastlake follow the Project Lead The Way sequence. Therefore, students enrolled in SATA courses are prepared to take AP exams in the following areas: AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles.
Opportunities at EastlakeStudents interested in athletics are encouraged to be a part of Eastlake’s outstanding athletic teams. The following are current options available to students at Eastlake
Students interested in the field of forensics or criminal justice are given the option take courses in SATA along with courses in biomedical sciences where they’ll gain experience in human body sys-tems and forensic investigations.
Academic CompetitionsAlong with the unique curriculum provided by the program, students of SATA will have opportunities to compete in state and national competitions to include Robotics, App Design, and Cyber Security.
Students who compete will not only gain invaluable experience and exposure to different aspects of the computing world, but also have the opportunity to win scholarships and national recognition.
