REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CONTENT OF

DOGS IN VILNIUS

1. Comply with the rules of the Repub-lic of Lithuania on the Protection of Animals

2. Obligatory registration and microchipping of the pet

26

3. Veterinary care of animals and constant wor-ry about the health of the animals is mandatory

4. While walking in a public place or on other public property owner must have all necessary for cleaning dog ex-crements accessories (bags for ex-crements, scoops, etc.) and, accord-ingly, collect and clean up poo of dogs

5. To walk with the dogs only on special area for dog walking

6. The owner must ensure that the animals do not threaten, does no harm to health, life, property and the environment.

7. The owner must compensate the damage caused to the animal in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania

8. In the case maintenance of wild animals, they must be released unharmed or in the case of illness or other rea-sons, are transferred to the Center emergency response 112 or Vilnius Regional Environmental Protection Department.

PROHIBITED:1. keep the animals in an enclosed vehicle, or in a room without ventilation, leave them outdoors in extreme heat or cold conditions2. feeding stray animals, throw the leftover food from the balconies, win-dows and the like. Except pigeons and crows in winter.3. to bring animals in crowded places, cemeteries, places of pre-school ed-ucation, health care, etc., beaches - set during the bathing season;4. bathe and wash the animals in the fountains, public ponds, rivers.5. keep animals on the roofs, open balconies, basements and other common areas or support structures6. to keep stray animals in residential buildings7. Transport of animals in the lift can only be by agreement with the people8. An animal that behaves suspiciously should be given to an animal shelter, at least for 14 days for his diagnosis and control9. Persons who found a dead animal must notify the Control of stray ani-mals in Vilnius10. Owners who keep animals for commercial purposes, must register their activities and have all necessary documents.11. Activities carried out with animals in public places only with the permis-sion of the municipality.
