f. A National Award at a paper presentation competition organised by the National Council for Educational Research & Training (NCERT), New Delhi, Dec. 1995, Topic : Literature for a Language Improvement : A Case for Teacher Development.

g. Qualified examiner at the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), conducted by the International Development Programme, Australia (IDP Education Australia) and British Council for the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (UCLES).

Special Distinctions at the Organisational Level

As the Coordinator of the Socio-Cultural Foundation at the Sardar Patel University, sponsored by the Ford Foundation, New York organized over 400 cultural programmes on diversity appreciation mobilizing a huge number of students, faculty members, community members in and around Vallabh Vidyanagar to participate in the programmes.

Introduced 3 degree programmes since the inception of the college in 2004 (B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil.) at the Waymade College of Education and upgraded B.Ed. programme to B.Ed. Advanced

The Waymade College of Education has been awarded 5 National level and 8 State level awards for ICT integration in Classroom Teaching.

The College was selected by the NAAC – Intel – NCTE trio as one of the 25 colleges from across the country for Research in ICT in Education, 2008.

The College was been selected as one of the 8 centres in the country by the Deakin University of Australia for ICT in Teacher Education, 2009.

The alumni of the college find almost instantaneous placements across India. Many are engaged in teaching and research even abroad.

The College has been conferred with the title ‘Centre of Excellence for Innovations in Educational Practices’, 2011by Intel Teach to the Future Program, India Chapter.

Organised numerous Conferences, Seminars, Workshops during the last 10 years: 11 at the State level, 7 National and 3 International events.

The College has been accredited by the NAAC at 2.83 CGPA, March 2011. Reaccreditation is awaited.

Placements of alumni across Gujarat, India, even abroad from the first batch itself. The College has been recognized by the UGC’s under 2 (f) 12 (B). With all the major programmes in teacher education offered here, the Waymade College of

Education has now emerged as a complete institute for teacher development. The programmes offered are B.Ed. Advanced, M.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D.

The college premises are known as ‘The Most Neat and Clean Campus.’3

2. Coordinated a Self-Initiated Project on Volunteerism for Empowerment: An Experiment in Mutual Development, Jan. 2004- March 2004. This was an eight-week programme in Confidence Development for the wards of Class IV employees of Sardar Patel University.

3. Organised programmes for the socially disadvantaged students. 4. Worked on a UGC Project to prepare Audio materials to teach English to the students in

the Tribal areas of Gujarat.5. Coordinated a project on ‘Swain Flu’ outsourced by the medical colleges in the State.6. Produced a Course to Develop Communication Skills (An Audio Cassette and a handbook)

the /proceeds of the first edition of which went to the Chief Minister’s Earth Quake Relief Fund, March 2002.

7. Engaged in a Literacy Programme for the adult illiterates/ semi --literates in Vallabh Vidyanagar and the vicinity.

8. Coordinated the Saksharta Mission to strengthen Primary schools in rural parts of Khambhat and Petlad talukas between 2008 and 2010.

9. Engaged in the Saksharta Mission to provide literacy skills to adult illiterate population in Vallabh Vidyanagar between 2011 and 2013.

10. Currently engaged in helping student-teachers at the Waymade College of Education to prepare Teaching Learning Materials for visually impaired children (since 2013).
