Sew together; press seams to one side after adding each strip. The strip set should measure 16 ½” x 41.” After trimming off the selvage, cross-cut in 5" increments. Eight segments are needed. Sew the 5" x 16 1/2" segments together in pairs. This yields 4 strips of 16 "coins" each. Sashing: Cut 3 gray strips 4 1/2" x 32 ½." and sew them between the 3 stacks of "coins." Press the seams toward the gray sashing.

Borders: Cut 2 gray strips, 5 1/2" x 32 1/2" for side borders. Sew onto the sides of the quilt and press seams toward the borders.Cut 2 gray strips 5 1/2" x 30 ½." Sew the 5 ½” gray and white print squares onto the ends of the gray border strips, pressing seam allowances toward the squares. Then sew the top and bottom borders onto the quilt and press the seam allowances toward the borders.

Finishing:Quilting: Use a colorful variegated thread or a dark gray thread. Quilt an all-over design such as Meandering to add texture to the quilt.Binding: Cut the 5 remaining print strips in half; each will measure 2 ½” by about 20.” Join 9 of these “half strips” with diagonal seams. Press seams open. Press binding strip in half width-wise and sew to quilt.
