Dalton Caldwell, Founder/CEO, imeemMusic-focused online social network imeem has raised over $50 million in funding from investors including Sequoia Capital and Warner Music Group, according to reports. The company, which counts 30 million registered users, has licenses from all four major labels and many independents to offer free, ad-supported streaming music. While many see social networks as a crucial component in helping indie musicians and record labels win fans and launch careers in

the Web 2.0 era, some are skeptical about the company's future. In this rare opportunity to meet imeem's 28-year-old founder, recently featured in BusinessWeek.com's up-and-comers under 30 story, you will get a view of the current inner workings of the digital music industry and what role he would like imeem and other social networks and streaming services to play in the music eco-system of the future.

Jim Griffin, Warner Music Advisor/President, ChorussFor the past year, Jim Griffin has advised Warner Music Group on digital distribution and licensing models with the goal of bringing an end to the litigation that has put a wedge between the major labels and their customers and replacing it with a regular flow of income for right holders. The project known as Choruss, which is being incubated at Warner and is planned to be rolled out as a non-profit with Griffin at the helm, proposes to build a small music-royalty fee into university tuition payments received from students, and, if successful, could be expanded to make ISPs the collector of the fees. In this keynote presentation and Q&A, Griffin will give attendees an exclusive look under the hood of Choruss, an initiative that just could save the music

industry. Don't miss the opportunity to hear from and meet the man who CNN Money calls "one of the sharpest minds in digital music."

Celia Hirschman, Host of KCRW's On The BeatEach week, industry veteran Celia Hirschman hosts KCRW's popular talk show On the Beat, covering the changes and trends happening in the music business. An independent consultant for the music business, Hirschman founded the marketing consulting company Downtown Marketing and also runs the UK-based record label One Little Indian in North America. She works with artists such as Bjork, The Twilight Singers, Lloyd Cole, Daniel Agust, Polly Paulusma, and many others, and has served in senior management at Palm Pictures, Mercury Records and A&M Records. In her presentation, Hirschman will examine the music industry from

the perspective of "Artist Development in the Digital Age." This is a special presentation that you will not want to miss.

George Searle, CEO, LimeWireWith LimeWire continuing to be a lightning rod for controversy among major music interests, CEO George Searle is determined to find a way to monetize the enormous traffic that this leading brand of file-sharing services generates. Can LimeWire be made acceptable – or even attractive – to the music industry? Don’t miss this no-holds-barred Q&A with the man at the helm of the most radioactive property in the digital music space. Prior to joining LimeWire, George Searle led a number of innovative new media ventures that created substantial value for music rights-holders, including Mediaguide, a joint venture with ASCAP, where he developed an automated tracking system to monitor, collect,

and disburse payments to rights-holders, while simultaneously expanding their royalty base. He also co-founded ConneXus, a revolutionary service that let consumers identify and purchase music they hear on ordinary radio using their mobile phones.

4:40pm – 5:25pmPANEL 2: Can Mobile Save the Music Industry? For years, we've been hearing that a new generation of mobile phones would be the savior for the record industry, offering a new secure and protected platform to sell digital music. Now that new smart phones are rolling out with music offerings, slow adoption and low sales are causing some to question whether mobile music is, in fact, all that it's been hyped to be. This panel of mobile insiders will discuss the latest in mobile developments, including new smart phones, portable devices and other mobile-related innovations that are hitting the mobile music market. What's working and what's not? What are the main inhibiting factors handicapping mobile

9:40am - 10:30amPANEL 1: The Pros and Cons of 360 Deals360 deals are becoming an increasingly common deal structure for major labels and others like Live Nation who are taking a larger role with artists. In addition to their standard cut of CD and digital download sales, 360 deals give the partner (the label or LIve Nation for example) a percentage of event ticket profits, merchandise sales, endorsement deals and anything else that uses the artist’s brand or music. Labels have defended 360 deals as justification for investing in an artist in a time of decreasing CD sales, but others argue that they are not in the best interest of artists and that established artists can leverage their own brands and fan bases, going direct on their own (with smart managers and advisors in their camps) and managing the spokes of their 360 wheel to their own direct advantage. On the other end of the scale, emerging artists, who don't have a brand, proven track record, or sizeable loyal following, have little leverage when it comes to negotiating with labels about whether their new deal should be a 360 deal or not. This panel will look at both scenarios and discuss the pros and cons of 360 deals. This is one session that you don’t want to miss!

This panel of music and copyright experts will present their views of the top legal and policy issues facing the music industry today. Why do so many in the industry feel that the current copyright system does not fairly protect their interests? What needs to happen so that artists can live off their creativity, labels and publishers can see a fair return on their investments, technology companies have an incentive to innovate and receive a fair share of the pie and music fans can satisfy their current hunger for and exploration of new and/or alternative music? Each presenter will have 5 minutes to give an opening statement to make his or her case for changes needed to reform the system. Following the presentations, the presenters will discuss in a panel format giving each panelist a chance to agree with or refute the ideas presented by his or her colleagues.
