The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc Single Vineyard offers a more expressive bouquet of fresh herbs, new cut grass, snow peas, and citrus fruits that jump from the glass. A bit more ample on the mid-palate, it has a smooth texture, crisp flavors, lively acidity, and a pure, lengthy finish. It should drink well for another two years.

CARmENèRE SINGLE VINEYARD 2006

The 2006 Carmenère Single Vineyard spent 12 months in French and American oak. Purple-colored, it reveals an expressive bouquet of pain grille, spice box, scorched earth, cassis, and blueberry. On the palate it is layered with plenty of savory fruit, has outstanding depth and concentration, as well as enough tannin to evolve for 2-3 years. Drink this succulent, lengthy effort from 2011 to 2021.

THE BLEND 2005

The 2005 The Blend, a wine which spent 18 months in French oak, is composed of 35% Shiraz, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, 11% Sangiovese, and 8% Petit Verdot. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a complex aromatic array of wood smoke, spice box, red currants, cherry, black currants, and blackberry liqueur. Smooth textured, round, and layered, it has ample savory fruit, an elegant personality, good balance, and a lengthy, fruit-filled finish. It will evolve for another 2-3 year and perform at its best from 2011 to 2020.

DON mAxImIANO FOUNDER’S RESERVE 2005

The 2005 Don Maximiano Founder’s Reserve spent 18 months in new French oak. It is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Dark ruby-colored, it has an expressive nose of toasty oak, mineral, mocha, espresso, red and black currants, and blackberry. On the palate it delivers gobs of complexly-flavored dark fruits, a range of spices, and plenty of depth and concentration while retaining an elegant personality. It is reminiscent of a classified growth Pauillac. Drink it from 2015 to 2030.

LA CUmBRE 2005

The 2005 Shiraz La Cumbre is sourced from the Don Maximiano Estate. This purple-colored effort has a wonderfully expressive nose of smoke, violets, blueberry, sausage, and bacon. Layered, bordering on opulent, the wine has plenty of ripe tannin, exceptional depth and concentration, and a lengthy finish. It will offer pleasure from 2011 to 2023.

KAI 2005

The 2005 KAI is a blend of 88% Carmenere, 7% Petit Verdot, and 5% Shiraz. Dark ruby/purple-colored, it presents a lovely bouquet of wood smoke, pencil lead, violets, blueberry, and black raspberry. On the palate it reveals an elegant personality with its racy blue and black fruits, succulent flavors, and outstanding depth and length. This hedonistic wine can be enjoyed from 2010 to 2018.
