VALVE – RECEIVING INSPECTION
I. Preparing necessary documents Purchase Order + Change Order Technical Specifications Applicable Standard:
ASTM B62 Standard Specification for Composition Bronze or Ounce Metal Castings (Applicable Standard)
ASTM B824 Standard Specification General Requirements for Copper Alloy Castings
MSS SP-25 Standard Marking System for Valves, Fittings, Flanges and Union And other reference standards.
Relevant Drawings Packing list/Delivery Order
II. Certificate Checking1. Certificate of Origin:
Check if Origin of valve is complied with PO.2. Mill Test Certificate:
Check type of certificate as EN 10204. Type 3.1 is acceptable. Material: ASTM B62 (UNS No.83600).
Chemical analysis: A chemical analysis of each element with a specified limiting value shall be made on
each lot. Chemical analysis for residual elements is not required unless specified in the purchase order (ASTM B824).
Chemical Requirements (ASTM B62):
When all named elements in Table 1 are analyzed, their sum shall be as follows:
Copper Plus Named Elements, 99.3 % Minimum Tension Test:
One tension test shall be performed on each lot. Tensile Requirements (ASTM A216):
Supplementary Requirements: ASTM B8243. Hydrostatic test certificate: API 598:
4. ABS certificate (*): Visual and hydrostatic test of valves shall be inspected by ABS Surveyor before shipping
to Purchaser.(*): only if ABS witness is required

Manufacturer’s name or Trademark Material identificationMaterial marking are not required on ASTM B61, B62, B584 alloys, C 83800 and C 84400, cast copper alloy thread or solder-joint or wrought copper solder-joint valves. Heat number ANSI Class Nominal Pipe Size (NPS)
