Requirements:The applicant must have a Grade 12 , Bachelor Degree/National Diploma or equivalentqualification in Development studies / Community Development, Economics & TourismNQF Level 6� Code EB Driver’s License� 2 to 3 years experience in the Economic andSocial Development/ Business Development in LED or Tourism (experience in municipalenvironment would be an added advantage)� Knowledge: knowledge of LocalGovernment sector and applicable legislations� Project Management� Understanding of IGR in relation to local government � Knowledge of isiZulu willbe an added advantage� Skills: Report writing�Excellent interpersonal andCommunication skills� Computer literacy in MS office packages� Strongorganizational, strategic and time management� Ability to conduct research andsurveys
Duties:Provide interventions in developing the dominant economic sectors� Identifyimmediate, short and long objectives associated with SMME Development� Facilitatethe formation and support of SMME’s and Corporative bodies� Implementing variousstrategies and policies of the Council� Ensure that informal trading sector is regulated� Represent the municipality on various Tourism and Heritage forums� Promotesynergy between Tourism and LED� Keeping abreast with changes to relevantlegislative requirements� Initiating and monitoring economic and social ruraldevelopment projects � Conducting analysis and feasibility studies to assess impact ofeconomic development initiatives� Assess and evaluate LED Projects proposals andprepare reports thereof� Represent the municipality in various meetings� Interactwith established local business sector� Develop and prepare monthly reports to bepresented to relevant municipal portfolio committees.
Salary: The bottom notch of a post level 3 of a Grade 3 Local Authority-i.e. R235712.85 p.a. subject to Job Evaluation plus standard municipal benefits.
