For more information or to request a presentation, call 303.299.2000 US 36 BUS RAPID TRANSIT AT A GLANCE • US 36 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is part of FasTracks, RTD's voter-approved plan passed in November 2004 to expand transit service across the Denver metro region. • The US 36 BRT Line includes 18 miles of service that connects Denver Union Station to Boulder, passing through Westminster, Broomfield, Superior, and Louisville. • Six stations are part of the US 36 BRT Line: Westminster Center, Church Ranch, Broomfield, Flatiron/96th St., McCaslin, and Table Mesa. Each station will offer enhanced shelters with architecturally uniform canopies, state-of-the-art digital customer information, and ticket vending machines. PROJECT OVERVIEW The US 36 BRT project began in 2001 as part of the US 36 Major Investment Study that included both BRT and commuter rail technologies. • The US 36 Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was completed with the release of a Final EIS and Record of Decision in late 2009. • The Phase 1 US 36 BRT project was the first FasTracks project to be completed. The project included new bus pullouts and a pedestrian bridge at McCaslin Boulevard (2006); new Park-n-Ride station and bus pullouts at Church Ranch Boulevard (2007); and new Park-n-Ride station, bus pullouts and a pedestrian bridge in Broomfield (2010). • The Phase 2 US 36 BRT project is being constructed in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and includes several BRT elements: express lanes extension, station canopies, Programmable Information Displays and the support infrastructure for the real-time bus arrival information. The extension of express lanes from Federal Boulevard to 88th Street, just west of West Flatirons, is currently underway and is scheduled for completion in January 2015. The extension of the express lanes from 88th Street to the Table Mesa Park-n-Ride is expected to be completed in late 2015. Other components of the Phase 2 BRT project include the new Table Mesa pedestrian bridge (scheduled for completion in March 2013); queue jumps (bus bypass lanes at intersections) at Sheridan, Church Ranch, McCaslin, and lnterlocken/96th; transit signal priority at intersections; and new BRT vehicles.
