Thomas Schmidt provided a presentation on the rapid transit project and answered questions. Mississauga representatives at the meeting supported in principle, the direction of rapid transit as a sustainable community initiative.

lanes Removal of parking spaces Potential for redevelopment along the route Adjusted cross-connections for existing GRT buses Rationale for looped system in cores Route alternatives and choices Archaeological discoveries requiring notification Discussion of next steps, including June 24, 2009
Regional Council meeting to consider the preferred alternative
Pedestrian safety to reach platforms Fare regulation (ensuring tickets are purchased) Signal timing to ensure schedule adherence

Keeping rail lines cleared in winter Potential future phases It was noted that Six Nations staff may attend one of the upcoming open houses. Six Nations staff are aware of dates and times from Region’s web site.

Rob Horne provided presentation on draft Regional Official Plan, and offered to meet regarding rapid transit. Chief LaForme was agreeable to such a meeting.

The Chiefs of Ontario website (http://www.chiefs-of-ontario.org) provides a directory of contact information for all First Nations and Chiefs, as well as a map of the locations of Ontario First Nations.
Natural Resources Canada maps showing all First Nation reserve lands, are available for
purchase at http://clss.nrcan.gc.ca/indexmap-carteindex-eng.php
Natural Resources Canada’s online Historical Indian Treaties map, showing historical First Nation treaties across Canada, is available at: http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/maps/historical/indiantreaties/historicaltreaties
The Aboriginal Canada Portal has a list of all First Nations in Ontario
