LADIES FOOTBALL
U16’s A
On Thursday night last our U16 ladies footballers travelled down to Ahiohill to take on Keelnameela in their second league match of the season. This same group of girls had lost the u14 final in 2015 to this
Page 3 of 6
team and so felt that they had a point to prove. Right from the word go, Rovers attacked and were 4pts to 1pt up after 10mins thanks to points from Roisin OSullivan Orla OSullivan Nicole Callanan and Ellen Fennelly. Valleys continued to apply the pressure and added their first goal through Orla OSullivan, keelnameela cvame back with some points before Kim Muckian fininshed off a great team move to leave the halftime score 2:4 to 0:3 to Valleys. Turning around for the second half against the breeze the fear was keelnameela could have a purple patch. However powered by their 6 defenders led by Aine lynch and Carol Cremin, and aided by Niamh Hurley in midfield, Valleys pushed on and added to their tally with goals by Nicole & Roisin and further points by Callanan and Orla, they finished out the game strongly on a scoreline of Valley Rovers 5:6 to Keelnameela 2:3. This was a great performance by all the girls on the night and should bolster their belief in their own abilities for the year ahead.
Team: Jane Mulvihill Aine Lynch Carol Cremin Shauna Reilly Ellen fehilly Rachel Lordan Sarah Lynch Niamh Hurley Ellen Fennelly Nicole Callanan Roisin OSullivan Katie Murphy Orla OSullivan Chloe Burton Kim Muckian Aishling ODonavan and Leanne OCallaghan.

UNDER 8’s
Our U8 boys played a football blitz in Bandon on
Saturday morning in blustery conditions. Numbers
were down with communions but we still managed to
field 2 teams. Both teams played Clonakilty, Bandon &
Ballincollig and won all their matches. The tackling &
energy levels were great to see with a large number of
players on the scoresheet. Particularly impressive was
the kick passing & scoring which they have been
practicing at training. Some new players have taken up
GAA recently & are really making progress. In all a
great morning out was had by all.
