Welcome to Fairkytes Live: Last Band Standing. We call it a battle of the bands, but its more than just a competition. Who wins really isnt the point, its about giving young, local bands a chance to play, gain experience and hopefully help them on the way to more and regular gigs.

Last year, five of the six bands that competed returned to play full gigs for us at Fairkytes Live. Several are now playing more widely in London and Essex. We hope weve helped them and they will be playing for years to come.

Thanks to the staff here for their work putting on this event (aside from their professional contribution, they do this because they love music). Thanks also to the judges, who are top musicians, to the tech crew for making the place look and sound great and especially to everyone who supports us.

Truth in a Clich evolved from one of last years youngest Last Band Standing entrants, the Broken Strings, who despite their youth amazed everyone with their pace and power and the maturity of their sound. Influenced by Nirvana, My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Black Veil Brides and Frank Turner, they are highly advanced for such a young band and ones to watch for the future.

PRESENTS

Lost Ashore is a pop punk, pop core, hardcore band from Essex comprising Elliot Grover on guitar and vocals, Dom Clark on guitar, James Bull on bass and Billy Pidgeon on the drums. Their influences are Four Year Strong, Set Your Goals, Me vs Hero, The Wonder Years, A Day to Remember, The Story So Far, Neck Deep, Goldfinger and the French band Chunk! No, Captain Chunk

Uprising was formed in February 2014 at Havering Sixth Form College. Their unique sound comes from a fusion of the melodies of classic rock with an aggressive grunge element. The band has played at various venues across Essex and London including Chinnerys in Southend and the Camden Barfly as a support act. Currently recording their debut album, Uprising are planning on touring across the country towards the end of this year.

Spitehouse strive to create music that is artistically and emotionally engaging and to establish genuine connection between artist and audience. The intention is to form lasting bonds that celebrate, critique and embrace all aspects of life and meaning. Spitehouse passionately believe in the live show as an environment in which strangers of diverse backgrounds share and express their experiences and understanding. Influences include Brand New, La Dispute, Nirvana and all other artists that know the passion that binds us.
