On policy matters the Faculty Advisory Council shall,through the Dean, make recommendations to the Administrative Board and/orthe Executive Faculty, as may be appropriate. It shall take definitiveaction only with respect to such matters for which responsibility hasbeen delegated to it by the Administrative Board or Executive Faculty.Such delegated responsibilities shall be defined in the Bylaws.

Policy matters not satisfactorily resolved by the usualprocedures of the Committee will be referred for final determination tothe Executive Faculty as a whole, which shall hold a special meeting forthis purpose at the request of the Committee. In any event, the Committeeon Student Scholastic Standing will report on its activities to the ExecutiveFaculty at least once each year.

Responsibilities

The Medical Staff-Hospital Council is empowered to act for the Medical Staffwith respect to medical policy matters when sound medical judgment requiresprompt action. The Council is responsible for considering proposed modificationsof Medical Policy Rules and Regulations and in making appropriate recommendationsfor action on such proposals to the Medical Staff. The Council may establishspecial function committees and may recommend persons to be appointed to suchcommittees. The Director of the Hospitals may bring to the Council anyadministrative matters concerning which he may wish advice. In such instanceshe may be accompanied at such meetings of the Medical Staff-Hospital Councilby appropriate members of his hospital administrative staff, nursing personnel,or other similar persons, as he may see fit. The Council shall make a reportof its activities to the Medical Staff at least once each year.

The Chief of Medical Staff shall preside at meetings of the Medical Staffand shall act as Chairman of the Medical Staff-Hospital Council.
