*Hymn of Praise Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing UMH 400
Come thou fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it, Mount of thy re-deeming love
Here I raise my Ebenezer, Hither by thy help I come
And I hope by thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wondering from the fold of God
He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood
O to grace how great a debtor, Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for thy courts above
Opening Prayer
Scripture Lesson Psalm 78:1-4, 12-16 1Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,
3things that we have heard and known, that our ancestors have told us.
4We will not hide them from their children; we will tell to the coming generation the
glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. 12
In the sight of their ancestors he worked marvels in the land of Egypt,
in the fields of Zoan. 13
He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap. 14
In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all night long with a fiery light. 15
He split rocks open in the wilderness,
and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep. 16
He made streams come out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down like rivers.
The Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
Scripture Lesson Philippians 2:1-13
If then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in
the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, 2make my joy complete: be of the same mind,
having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3Do nothing from selfish
ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. 4Let each of
you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. 5Let the same mind be
in you that was in Christ Jesus, 6who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard
equality with God as something to be exploited, 7but emptied himself, taking the form of
a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, 8he humbled
himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross. 9Therefore
God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, 10
so that
at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth, 11
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God
the Father. 12
Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence,
but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling; 13
for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work
for his good pleasure.
The Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.
Anthem All I Can Say
Lord I'm tired, so tired from walking
And Lord I'm so alone, and Lord the dark
Is creeping in, creeping up, to swallow me
I think I'll stop, rest here a while
And this is all that I can say right now
And this is all that I can give
And this is all that I can say right now
And this is all that I can give, that's my everything
Lord didn't You see me cry'n?
And didn't You hear me call Your name?
Wasn't it You I gave my heart to?
I wish You'd remember
Where you sat it down
And this is all that I can say right now, I know it's not much.
But this is all that I can give, yeah that's my everything.
This is all that I can say right now [right now], I know it's not much.
But this is all that I can give, yeah that's my everything.
I didn't notice You were standing here
I didn't know that
That was You holding me
I didn't notice You were cry'n too
I didn't know that
That was You washing my feet, And this is all
Scripture Lesson Exodus 17:1-7
From the wilderness of Sin the whole congregation of the Israelites journeyed by stages,
as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the
people to drink. 2The people quarreled with Moses, and said, “Give us water to drink.”
Moses said to them, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?” 3But
the people thirsted there for water; and the people complained against Moses and said,
“Why did you bring us out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and livestock with
thirst?” 4So Moses cried out to the LORD, “What shall I do with this people? They are
almost ready to stone me.” 5The LORD said to Moses, “Go on ahead of the people, and
take some of the elders of Israel with you; take in your hand the staff with which you
struck the Nile, and go. 6I will be standing there in front of you on the rock at Horeb.
Strike the rock, and water will come out of it, so that the people may drink.” Moses did
so, in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7He called the place Massah and Meribah, because
the Israelites quarreled and tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”

Prayers of the People Insert
Let us pray for the Church and for the world
Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven…
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever. Amen
*Hymn of Dedication Lead On, O King Eternal UMH 580
Lead on, O King eternal, the day of march has come
Henceforth in fields of conquest thy tents shall be our home.
Through days of preparation, thy grace has made us strong,
And now, O King eternal, we lift our battle song.
Lead on, O King eternal, Till sin's fierce war shall cease.
And holiness shall whisper the sweet amen of peace.
For not with swords loud clashing, nor roll of stirring drums,
With deeds of love and mercy, the heavenly kingdom comes.
Lead on, O King eternal, we follow, not with fears.
For gladness breaks like morning where'er thy face appears.
Thy cross is lifted o'er us; we journey in it's light.
The crown awaits the conquest, lead on, O God of might.
*Benediction
*Benediction Response The Lord Bless and Keep You

Discover a different way of seeing and responding to the
Coronavirus pandemic, an approach drawing on
Scripture, Christian history, and the way of living,
thinking, and praying revealed to us by Jesus.
What are we supposed to think about the Coronavirus crisis?
Some people think they know: "This is a sign of the End,"
they say. "It's all predicted in the book of Revelation."
Others disagree but are equally clear: "This is a call to repent.
God is judging the world and through this disease he's telling
us to change." Some join in the chorus of blame and condemnation: "It's the fault of the
Chinese, the government, the World Health Organization…"
N. T. Wright examines these reactions to the virus and finds them wanting. Instead, he
shows that a careful reading of the Bible and Christian history offers simple though
profound answers to our many questions, including:
· What should be the Christian response?
· How should we think about God?
· How do we live in the present?
· Why should we lament?
· What should we learn about ourselves?
· How do we recover?
Written by one of the world's foremost New Testament scholars, God and the
Pandemic will serve as your guide to read the events of today through the light of Jesus'
death and resurrection.

“When it comes to the intersection of race, privilege, justice, and the church, Tasha is without question my best teacher. Be the Bridge is THE tool I wish to put in every set of hands.” —Jen Hatmaker
Winner of the Christianity Today Book Award • A leading advocate for racial reconciliation calls Christians to move toward deeper understanding in the midst of a divisive culture.
In an era where we seem to be increasingly divided along racial lines, many are hesitant to step into the gap, fearful of saying or doing the wrong thing. At times the silence, particularly within the church, seems deafening.
But change begins with an honest conversation among a group of Christians willing to give a voice to unspoken hurts, hidden fears, and mounting tensions. These ongoing dialogues have formed the foundation of a global movement called Be the Bridge—a nonprofit organization whose goal is to equip the church to have a distinctive and transformative response to racism and racial division.
In this perspective-shifting book, founder Latasha Morrison shows how you can participate in this incredible work and replicate it in your own community. With conviction and grace, she examines the historical complexities of racism. She expertly applies biblical principles, such as lamentation, confession, and forgiveness, to lay the framework for restoration.
Along with prayers, discussion questions, and other resources to enhance group engagement, Be the Bridge presents a compelling vision of what it means for every follower of Jesus to become a bridge builder—committed to pursuing justice and racial unity in light of the gospel.

Sermon Series: October 4 – November 22
Learning to Live as the People of God
As Moses led the Israelites from Egypt to the Promised Land, they spend a whole lot of
time “wandering” in the wilderness. This holy wandering was for the Hebrew people a
season of being shaped, molded, challenged, and transformed. They had to learn a new
way to live. This new way had to first leave behind the way they had been taught in
Egypt and then engage in and learn to depend on God’s love, grace, mercy, and
salvation.
What does it mean to say “we are people of God?” And how are we, as people of God,
called to live? These are the questions we hope to engage in the coming weeks.
We’ll use scripture, tradition, experience, and reason as a guide to help us engage these
deep and wide questions.
