Table of Contents Remembering Our Confirmation
Remembering Our pg. 1 This Sunday, May 5th, is a Sunday you won’t want to miss! It’s a very Confirmation special Sunday in the calendar at Forbes every year. The Sunday when Worship in May pg. 2 our young people are confirmed. On this day these nine young people Prayers will confirm that was promised and celebrated at their baptisms: that UMW pg. 3 they are a precious child of God, living, learning, and growing what God UMM has began in them. It has been a joy to teach them and ground them in Electronic Giving the basics of our Christian faith and then after Sunday it will be up to May Birthdays them what they do with it. Our hope as members of Forbes will be that Kwik Trip Cards they will “run” with it and live that journey to it’s fullest. On Sunday we Proctor Food Shelf will celebrate with them, not the end of this faith journey, but rather this Calendar pg. 5 beginning! It will take all of us to love them, encourage them, and most Adventure Day Camp (cover) of all support them as they take this next glorious step. Congratulations Hailey, Preslie, Sophie, Emma, Daniel, Cecelia, Madeline, Charlie, and Daulton.
I invite you to remember your confirmation and to embrace it every day! God is with us on the journey behind us, before us and best of all beside us. Everyone of us is a precious child of God. Don’t ever forget that!
Below is an example of Crystal remembering her confirmation.
What does being confirmed to you mean? It is being accepted as a member of the church, re-affirming your faith, or is it deepening your relationship with God? To a teenager it can mean a party, gifts, a rite of passage, another class you have gone through and “passed”.
When I went through confirmation, my church used a catechism and we had weekly memorization work that we had to do. Every week we would line up, recite our line, and be checked off the list. During the
service we had to read to everyone faith statements we had written. That was one of the scariest things I ever did and I would never imagine that I would do something like that again. But I have, as worship leader and with the articles I have written. I still worry about stuttering during the service and that the thoughts I write will not make sense to anyone but me.
One thing I remember above all else is that we were all given a scripture passage picked out especially for us. Mine is Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also the Greek.” That verse has popped into my head through different times in my life and I am so thankful for that. Is there a specific verse that comes to mind from that time in your life?
Confirmation is a rite of passage. We are no longer thought of as “kids” but as “members”. It’s scary but there is also as sense of accomplishment, of victory that we have done something and been able to get to the next phase in our lives. How do we use what we’ve learned? We all have a calling, the most important being a child of Christ. We show his unfailing love by living our lives sharing God’s love, his forgiveness, and his grace to everyone. This is what confirmation means to me. What does it mean to you? Because of His grace, Pastor Karen and Crystal

ALS and Forbes This year the ALS Association Minnesota/N. Dakota/S. Dakota Chapter was able to raise $1,229,000 through their annual Black Woods Blizzard Tour/Celebration. Forbes played a small role in providing overflow parking space for snowmobiler vehicles and trailers. Cooperative events like these, show how we can reach out to the larger community for worthy causes.
