1948in Japan the UNESCO Clubs
were founded.
A Club UNESCO is an association which promotes the Peace ideals and improves people of different
countries
In 1979 some Italian clubs put togheter
to found the Italian Federation of UNESCO Clubs and Centers
In 1983, in Reggio
is established the new Club
UNESCO made official in 1985The first site is an unsmiling
circular hall of the
old Aragonese Castle
that becomes a cultural centre
in the city
Horse-terapy, pictures show, musical and poetic
exhibitions.
The Club becomes culturally and artistically important in front of the Citizen, and a succession of peace initiatives to renovate the castle (with human chains) begins
In 1995 the 16° national meeting of UNESCO Clubs and Centers takes place in Reggio
The Clubs supports the introduction, inUNESCO World Heritage, of Gerace, an ancient town with a medieval centre
The Club coordinates a group of initiatives to improve different
cultures which take place in our city.
Art, crafts, music, theatre, dance, songs, cookery of foreign people who live in
Reggio are showing to citizen.The biggest manifestation is by

which operate in our area
In 2002 the Club presents a Photo
Book about landscapes of the
Aspromonte (the mountains of
south Calabria)published with the patronage of the National Park of
Aspromonte
Summer 2005: delegation of young of Club in learning
languages project realized by Reggio’s Municipality in
MALTA
in May 2005 a delegate of Reggio’s Club is guest of the
“Middle East Peace Initiative” in Israel
In 2001 and 2006 in cooperation with environmental association Kronos of Reggio and the National Park of
Aspromonte the Club organizes some trips in mountain, joined, by foreign people, artists and
others.
