Principal’s Message
Positive Behaviour for Learning relaunch Our PBL Team worked exceptionally well over the recent holidays to develop a relaunch program for this Friday 11 May. It is envisaged that the relaunch will assist in affirming the significance of PBL for our students, staff and community. Also, you may have noticed the new PBL structures near the school office that reflect our values; Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful. The structures are one feature to remind everyone of the values we aspire to maintain. Quality teaching and learning resources Late last term we completed a refit of all 16 classrooms and the library with interactive touchscreens that have replaced the ageing Interactive Whiteboards. This was a significant school investment providing current technology to enable the continuation of quality interactive learning and instruction for many years into the future. District cross country Best wishes to the large number of Unanderra students competing in the Dapto District Cross Country this Thursday. The facilities at Mt Kembla Joggers are fantastic and I believe our students will enjoy the experience. My best wishes to the students representing our school. New face This morning I met Emma Butler, our newly appointed school counsellor. Emma will be available at our school Tuesday and Wednesday each week. I will also be engaging Eleisha Benedetti on a Thursday as an additional school counsellor. I trust Emma and Eleisha will work closely together as they provide support to our students, staff and community.

Director’s visit As mentioned last week Unanderra Public School is now in a new network with a new Director, Educational Leadership. I met our director, Bill Field, last Tuesday after school. He took the time to engage with several staff as we viewed various locations around the school. His first impressions of our school and staff were very positive indeed. Mother’s Day stall This Thursday our supportive P&C will be holding their annual Mother’s Day stall. The stall provides students the opportunity to buy a $5 gift for their mum, nan or extended family member.

Book Fair! Book! Fair Book Fair!
Time for the first Scholastic Book Fair of the year. The Scholastic Book Fair will be visiting us in the iLibrary at the iHub next week (Week 3). There will be some amazing books available so don't forget to check the Scholastic Book Fair pamphlet that will be sent home this week. When: Monday 14 May - Friday 18 May, Week 3. Opening Times: Before school: 8.30am-8.55am Lunch time: 1.15pm-1.45pm After school: 3.00pm-3.30pm Where: the iLibrary at the iHub Make sure you check out our 'pREADling Station' when you visit and remember a percentage of the takings will go towards buying new books for our school library. School Banking Update Once again, this week’s class winner was 5/6F – they’ve almost caught up to 1/2W. The leaderboard now stands as follows: 1/2W: 6, 5/6F: 5, 1/2C and 3/4B are tied on 2. Any volunteers and enquiries can be directed via the school office, a note in the red banking bin in the school foyer on Tuesdays or come and see us at 9am Tuesdays in the old uniform shop. School Banking Coordinators and volunteers, Jodien Mortlock, Jenny Evans, Nicole Martin and Joanne Egan.
P & C NEWS: Welcome to P& C News! We are looking for a Secretary to join our vibrant committee; we really need more parents to get involved with the P&C to continue to fundraise. If you are interested in undertaking this position please contact me on [email protected] or through the school office. We are all volunteers, parents who all of us work and have other responsibilities though we still commit time to the P&C as we know the benefit our children get from the additional resources and services we are able to support. However we cannot continue the same level of support without more assistance. Next P & C Meeting: The next meeting will be held on Monday 4th June at 7pm. Upcoming Events for Term 1:
School Colour Explosion: Still awaiting final figures on this, a few last minute contributions
have come through; hopefully we will have the final figure soon.
Entertainment book: The 2018/2019 edition will be sent home the 16th May 2018! There will
also be some spare books in the office if you want more than the one that is sent home. A link
will be on the Schools Facebook page soon, be sure to share this around! This book is a great
way to save loads of money so be sure to check it out.
School Hats are available at the canteen for $11.
Trivia Night we have had to push the date of the Trivia Night back to allow us sufficient time to
organise the event. We need more Volunteers to help with canvassing business for raffle prizes
or donations, if you can help please let me know. The new date is the 3rd August 2018 so save
the date! A flyer will be sent out next month or so!
Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough stay tuned! A note will be sent home soon to start selling
tubs of cookie dough!
McDonalds Nights we are looking at organising another McDonalds night, keep an eye out for
the date!
