Ultimate solution for Roof insulation, Void filling and Screeding

FABTECH STERLING BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES PVT. LTD. offers a full range of load bearing and infill

wall systems and foam concrete for residential, commercial and industrial applications.

It now brings you Plaswall, Plasmolite and Foamolite a range of building systems that deliver on SPEED,

STRENGTH and SAVINGS. Plaswall, Plasmolite and Foamolite are the products launched and have strong

acceptability in Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, Qatar and India and are spreading fast in Middle East and

Africa.

Foamolite derived from foam concrete is a material which consists primarily of a cement based

mortar mixed with at least 20% of volume air.

It possesses high workability, low self-weight, zero consumption of aggregate, controlled low

strength and excellent thermal insulation properties.

It can have a range of dry densities, typically from 600 kg/m3 to 1600 kg/m3 and a range of

compressive strengths, 1 MPa to 5 MPa .

Process:

Foamolite is produced by entrapping numerous small bubbles of air produced by foaming liquid in cement

slurry. Mechanical foaming of slurry can be done by pre-foaming a suitable foaming agent with water and

then combining the foam with the slurry of cement and flyash.

The most commonly used foam concentrates are based on protein or synthetic surfactants.

They are formulated to produce air bubbles that are stable and able toresist the physical and chemical forces imposed during mixing, placing and hardening.

Making the Slurry

The cement used for the slurry is usually OPC 53 Grade although other cements can be used. Flyash is

primarily used but if sand is specified in the mix design ideally it should be fine with 2mm maximum size

and 60 to 90% passing through a 600 micron sieve (8).

The water: cement ratio of the slurry is usually varies based on the density, strength and workability.

The Cement flyash slurry can be made at the batching plant and then transported to site where foam can

be mixed as per the requirement. Alternatively foamolite can be made at site by using standard mixers.

Advantages of Foamolite:

Ÿ Highly workable, hence requires no compaction.Ÿ Lightweight - does not impose large loadings.Ÿ Free flowing - spreads to fill all voids.Ÿ Good thermal Insulation.Ÿ Enables fast work.Ÿ Non load bearing characteristics.Ÿ Low water absorption over time.Ÿ Non-hazardous either during application or in service.Ÿ Fire resistant.Ÿ Reliable quality control - batches are easy to reproduce.Ÿ Resistant to freeze-thaw cycle.Ÿ Once placed requires no maintenance.Ÿ Does not impose significant lateral loads.Ÿ Highly cost effective compared with other methods.Ÿ Sufficiently strong and durable for most applications.Ÿ Green Product.

Applications of Foamolite:

Building Partition Walls: Wall panels can be made for partition and Non load bearing walls. They can be made with almost any dimensions.

Floor Screed: Foamolite can be used for floor screeds, creating a flat surface on uneven ground and raising floor levels.

Void Filling: Foamolite is a perfect void filling material because of its placement characteristic.

Roof Insulation: Foamolite is used extensively for roof insulation and for making a slope on flat roofs. It has good thermal insulation properties and because it is lightweight foamolite does not impose a large loading on the building.

Road Sub-Base: Foamolite is being used road sub base on a bridge. Foamolite is lightweight so that the loading imposed on the bridge is minimised.
