UISD Guidelines Early Start Pathway
2020 - 2021
Department of Advanced Academics(Class of 2024)
1
Dual Credit Overview
The Dual Credit Program offers students an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Upon successful completion of a Dual Credit course, a student will earn “dual credit” – high school and college credit –simultaneously. These courses provide advanced academic instruction beyond, or in greater depth than, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for a corresponding high school course.

Concurrent Enrollment
What is the difference between Dual Credit and concurrent enrollment?
Concurrent enrollment may also be referred to as dual enrollment. Dual Credit may be viewed as a form of concurrent enrollment, because the student is enrolled in both high school and college at the same time. However, concurrent enrollment, the credit earned is only at the college.
