Dual Credit Overview

The Dual Credit Program offers students an opportunity to earn college credit while still in high school. Upon successful completion of a Dual Credit course, a student will earn “dual credit” – high school and college credit – simultaneously. These courses provide advanced academic instruction beyond, or in greater depth than, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for a corresponding high school course. 2

Concurrent Enrollment

What is the difference between Dual Credit and concurrent enrollment?

Concurrent enrollment may also be referred to as dual enrollment. Dual Credit may be viewed as a form of concurrent enrollment, because the student is enrolled in both high school and college at the same time. However, concurrent enrollment, the credit earned is only at the college.
