From the cosmopolitan delights of Istanbul to the Roman remains of Ephesus, the more you see of Turkey, the more you’ll realise you have yet to see. Our journey starts in Istanbul, one of the great cities of the world, and the cultural and historic heart of Turkey. Spanning the Bosphorus with its skyline of domes and minarets you’ll be captivated by the hustle and bustle of old and new worlds colliding.

From there we’ll head south along the Dardanelles Strait to the Gallipoli peninsula where we visit the beach and cemeteries of Anzac Cove and observe significant landmarks and memorials. From there we cross by ferry to the vibrant waterfront town of Cannakkale where we stay the night.

On our way to Ephesus we visit the ruins of Troy and the Acropolis in Pergamum. Ephesus is sure to be a highlight of your holiday – one of the best-preserved classical cities in the eastern Mediterranean and a great example of Roman architecture. Not to be outdone, Pamukkale will amaze you with its truly unique ‘cotton castles’ – a magical natural phenomenon of hot springs, with the warm thermal waters popular for their special healing properties as much as their beauty.

Throughout our journey you’ll also soak up the spine-tingling eeriness of the Greek ghost town of Kayakoy, and delight in manuscripts from Rumi and artefacts relating to the ‘Whirling Dervishes’ order that he founded. Possibly the most memorable of all will be the otherworldly, moon-like landscape of Cappadocia. Be enchanted by the beautiful valley of Fairy chimneys and the Byzantine cave chapels decorated with exquisite biblical Frescoes. You’ll have the option to take an early morning hot air balloon ride over this stunning landscape or enjoy a traditional Turkish bath to unwind – we’ll even stay in a cave house.

We’ll cover a lot of ground in 16 days but there’ll also be time to relax and recharge your batteries at the culturally rich bay of Fethiye, the beautiful seaside village of Kas and cruising through peaceful and picturesque islands where you’ll see ancient houses submerged under the clear water. And of course, there’ll be plenty of time to stroll, shop and relax with a pot of apple tea.

All our tours are escorted by a Two’s a Crowd Tour host from Australia.

Why not venture further and end your adventure on a 10-day odyssey to Greece on board an exclusively chartered yacht from 21 – 30 September. Find out more in our Greek Odyssey brochure or contact us to discuss.

Altitude sickness: You may also be affected by altitude sickness. Parts of our trip go above 2800 metres where it is common for travellers to experience some adverse health effects due to the altitude - regardless of your age, gender and fitness. It even happened to Sir Edmund Hillary!

Before your trip: Some pre-existing medical conditions are known to severely worsen at high altitude and be difficult to adequately treat on the ground, leading to more serious consequences. It is imperative that you discuss your pre-existing medical condition/s with your doctor. We understand certain medications are reported to aid acclimatising to high altitude. Please discuss these options with your doctor.

During your trip: While our tour guides have basic first aid training and are aware of the closest medical facilities, it is very important that you are aware of the cause and effects of travelling at altitude, monitor your health and seek assistance accordingly.
