Stewardship Reflection “For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to

give his life as a ransom for many.” (MARK 10:45) If you as a Christian Steward held a mirror up to your life, would it reflect God’s love and mercy? If you are struggling with this, try changing your attitude from “I want more” to “thank you God for everything you have given me, I have enough to share”. This change in perspective will bring you joy through service to others.

Assumption Regional Catholic School News!

Dear Friends,

Peace and all good! For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve. These words from today’s Gospel speak to the way in which Jesus teaches the importance of countercultural servant leadership. As adults, it is sometimes necessary for us to be reminded that being a good follower or great team player is vital and necessary for an organization (business, community, church and family) to function well. Leadership is not about “us” it is about the people whom we serve. As we reflect this week on our own servant leadership, may we also take time to engage our children and grandchildren in discussing good versus poor leadership, and the ways that they can demonstrate the leadership to which Jesus refers, For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve.

October has been a busy month and we still have more to come.

During this Month of the Rosary, we have been moving through all of the Mysteries each day during Morning Prayer. Additionally, individual classes have been praying the Rosary.

On Saturday, October 13, the Mary Ellen Schurtz Scholarship Color Run was held at ARCS. It was a day of pure joy and much excitement! Over $2,000 was raised for the MES Scholarship. Thank you to everyone who planned and executed the day, and to all of the families who came out for the run.

Our teachers will be participating in a professional development day on Monday, October 22. There is no school for students.

Candy Bar Bingo is being held at ARCS on Wednesday evening, October 24.

Our Student Council is exhibiting servant leadership by sponsoring Change for Charity. The funds will be used to support several Catholic schools that were damaged in Hurricanes Florence and Michael. Funds will also be donated to the family of a local Galloway police officer whose home was destroyed by a fire.

Pre-Kindergarten will visit Butterhof Farm on Thursday, 10/25 where they will visit the pumpkin patch and go on a hayride.

Students from the Junior High will compete academically against numerous other Catholic and public schools at Saint Augustine Prep Quiz Bowl on Tuesday, 10/23.

Halloween’s Trunk or Treat will find over fifty decorated vehicles dispensing treats to our students on Wednesday, 10/31 beginning at 1:00 in the parking lot.

Our October Scholastic Book Fair was AWESOME, and the students had a great week of activities, including Pizza and a Magic Show. Much gratitude is extended to everyone who assisted in any way with the Book Fair.

Continued thanks for all that you do to support Assumption Regional Catholic School. We could not do what we do without you! Many blessings,

B. Joan Dollinger

THE IMPORTANCE OF FLU SHOTS From Your Parish Nursing Ministry

The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year.

In the United States, flu season occurs in the fall and winter. The peak of flu season has occurred anywhere from late November through March. Influenza is a potentially serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to help protect against flu. It takes about two weeks after vaccination for antibodies to develop in the body and

provide protection against influenza virus infection. That’s why it’s better to get vaccinated by the end of October, before the flu season really gets under way. Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season. (CDC.org)
