A MESSAGE FROM FATHER RICH
Several weeks ago, I was approached about how poor the lighting in the gym was getting. Several of the fixtures are not working and a conversation began about how to correct the situation. A meeting was held with Jeff Hakenewerth concerning how to correct the situation. Jeff informed me that Ameren has an incentive program on to reduce energy costs by replacing bulbs and fixtures. During this conversation. Jeff also brought up the possibility of changing the fluorescent bulbs in the school to LED lighting. Jeff met with the Finance Committee and Athletic Association and showed us how much energy costs we would save by making the change. Based on the estimated hours the lights are used the savings are tremendous. It is estimated that after our cost of replacing the bulbs in the school , we would make the money back after 10 months for the school and in two years for the gym. The total savings would be over $4600 a year. The Finance Committee recommended that we make this improvement and since there was money left in the Brunnert gift for the school, to use that to fund this project. At the Parish Council last week they agreed and so we are proceeding in getting the paperwork together to accomplish this endeavor.
Also over the next three weeks the Archdiocese has asked that we take mass counts at all Sunday masses to help in their long term strategic planning for the Archdiocese, so if you see the ushers counting that is what they are doing.
God Bless,
~ Father Rich

A note regarding Weekly Offering Envelopes
Just a helpful note to remind you to check your envelopes when using them each Sunday. There are times when there is a Special Collection Sunday which an envelope has been provided for in your monthly batch. These Special Collection envelopes are usually found 1st before the General Fund
envelope in your stack. They may (or may not) have something on the flap or on the back side indicating which Special Collection it is for.
Please make sure you flip over your envelope to the front side to ensure that you know that you are either giving to the General Parish Fund or the Special Collection for the week.
Thank you for your continued generosity to our parish fund as well as to the variety of needs throughout our Archdiocese, our country, and our world!
You make a difference!

OUT AND ABOUT
DEACON NEAL’S REFLECTION CORNER
This past Tuesday was the feast day of St. Ignatius of Antioch. He was a great bishop and martyr of the Church of the early Church. Which reminds me of how so many converts that teach on Catholic radio were drawn to the Church by studying the writings of the early Church Fathers.
One writing that I'd like to recommend is the First Apology of St. Justin Martyr. It is an explanation of how the early Church worshipped. It looks kind of familiar. Maybe look up St. Ignatius or St. Polycarp. There's some great writings there too.
God bless Deacon Neal
