SAFEGUARD THE CHILDREN

DID YOU KNOW Keep an eye out during social events at school and church Now that your children are getting ready to head back to school, it’s a good time to re-familiarize yourself with the school or church prop-

erty. Keep a special lookout for any rooms or areas where super-vision is low, and where a predator could take a child without being noticed. During school events, these are the places to watch. You should also take note of any locked doors, areas un-der bleachers or in stairwells, or anywhere else suspicious. Child safety should be a priority for all events.

“The Lord is my light and my help whom shall I fear?” (Psalm 27) With the dark-ness, divisions and licentiousness around us, our response is ADORATION. Last August 19th, we had the first General Meeting of our Perpetual Adorers. It was a very good turnout for a first meeting. You will find in the bulletin the signup sheet for us to commit ourselves ONLY ONE HOUR A WEEK. Pray about this invita-tion. Our dear Jesus is calling you. Why adore? Our Lord Jesus, before His Great Sacrifice on the cross, went to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray and with Him He brought Peter, James and John. Our Lord begged the Father if it’s possible to take the cup of suffering away. The Father was silent. The Son trustingly surrendered, “Not My will but yours be done.” Then He found His three apostles asleep, not praying! Our dear Savior in a way rebuked them yet begging: “Can’t you stay with Me even for an hour? Pray that you may not be put to the test. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” ADORATION is to be WITH the Lord, TO BE READY for the unexpected turns of our earthly life. TO BE STRENGTHENED by His own Passion and Resurrection! We adore Jesus who is Truly and Really Present in the Blessed Sacrament (Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity) because He Himself taught and assured us that He is pre-sent: “This is my Body. This is my Blood.” “For My flesh is true food and My blood true drink.” (John 6:55). Our God is a personal, relational one, not of things and symbols. When it comes to His Presence, He left us a Real and True reality, the Eucharist, which is His Person, Himself, the Son of God, True God and True Man! Before our mortal eyes, He ap-pears the humble and simple bread and wine so that we may approach Him with

trusting love. But at Consecration, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Our Lord’s words at the Last Supper and the power of Holy Orders (the priesthood and apostolic succession), He fulfills His promise: “I am the Living Bread that came down from Heaven!” “Living” because it’s the LIVING GOD, not anymore the ordi-nary manna or bread of Israel’s journey in the desert but “His Flesh and Blood”. “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood will live for-ever.” (John 6:54) Come, let us adore Him! Beginning September 6th and all First Fridays of the year, we invite you to our all-day Adoration in church. We begin with 8:30AM Mass. Priests, staff, ministers and parishioners will have their respective hourly commit-ments to adore the Lord. A bilingual Mass shall take place at 7:00PM fol-lowed by a community Holy Hour (with Benediction). Evening Adoration continues till 7:15AM (again, with Benediction) concluding with 7:30AM Mass on Saturday. If it’s a First Saturday, to fulfill the requests of Our Lady of Fatima, we shall pray the Rosary, meditate on its mysteries and make reparation to her Immaculate Heart. Our desire is to re-discover and deepen our life of prayer and devotion here at St. Linus. Are you with me?
