MESSAGE FROM THE CEO

Dear member,

2012 has well and truly started!

We enter the New Year with many exciting plans for seagulls Club. The Board and Management have been working on numerous projects and we look forward to sharing the plans we have for seagulls as they are confirmed.

Thank you to those members who assisted in the recent focus groups. Your insight is invaluable to our future planning. We will commit to more focus groups this year and intend to provide other means for you to communicate feedback. Please feel free to let me know if you are interested in being involved in the next round of research or send me a note with any suggestions you have for our great Club.

The biggest message that our Board and Management have taken away from all the feedback is the need for seagulls Club to get back to basics. So we are!

We have been reworking our loyalty program and removing any roadblocks to offering you great service. Some things will take time to improve but other changes you will start to see immediately.

The renovation to the old Shed area of the Club is well underway and due for completion toward the end of March.

This development has been made possible having formed a partnership with our new caterer Marco Cenfi and his team. Marco joined us in December 2011 and has injected new life into our food offering. Having joined us in The Shed project at seagulls Club, Marco is committed on many fronts. From kitchen design to the execution of a building project

with local tradies, Marco has this project at heart and we are sure members will be suitably impressed once we open this area and you are able to taste its success!.

The Shed area will be home to a brand new dining area and large scale kitchen that will see food served seven days a week and will become the major eatery for the club. There will be extensive indoor seating and one of the largest outdoor areas n the region taking in the best views of the Tweed River.

We are also working with Marco on developing other food options in the current Stars area on a limited day timeframe for the future.

If you didn’t check out the new Revolution Health & Fitness Centre in 2011, what better time than now to act on your New Year’s resolution and commit to a healthier you. Revolution Health & Fitness Centre

continues to be light years ahead of any other gym on the Tweed with the services and facilities it has on offer. There really is no comparison. Come in and check it out and have a healthy smoothie, freshly squeezed juice or just a great coffee at the gyms Refuel Café.

There are a number of other exciting initiatives for seagulls Club that we anticipate being able to share with you next magazine. Thank you for your patience as we make changes around the Club. With your support, we look forward to putting seagulls Club back on the map in 2012.

DINING MAKES A DIFFERENCE

CEO COOK OFF

The new indoor/outdoor dining precinct currently under construction at seagulls will spearhead a whole new look and feel for the club. Due for completion in late March, the area will be able to accommodate over 300+ people.

The new dining area is under the direction of Marco Cenfi. Marco’s expertise as a restaurateur and respected interior architect has already been demonstrated in his past projects including the $1 million fit out of Fins Restaurant at Salt Village. Marco also owns and manages

norths Group CEO Luke Simmons has joined 200 other high profile company chief executives and 30 celebrity chefs to feed over 1,000 people in need in Sydney on Monday February 5 in the annual CEO CookOff.

Under the direction of Rockpool’s Neil Perry and with QANTAS as the major sponsor, the CEO Cook Off supports two great charities in OzHarvest (Australia’s Food Rescue Charity) and Mission Australia.

Luke is in good company with CEO’s from many high profile organisations like Coca-Cola Amatil, IMB, Qantas, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Nation Australia Bank. Some of the high profile celebrity chefs include Justin North, Maggie Beer, Peter Gilmore, Guillaume Brahimi, Stefano Manfredi and Adam Liaw & Julie Goodwin from Masterchef.

Bellini Italian restaurant, Salt Fish & Chips and Piccolo Gelato at Salt Village.

Marco and his team are behind the revitalised Stars Bistro at seagulls and apart from creating a wonderful new relaxed, contemporary dining experience, you can be assured that the food will be as good as the surroundings.

Tweed Heads Seagulls RLFC Ltd, take great pleasure in thanking our sponsors, seagulls Club, Beyond Building Solar Power Energy, Omega Hospitality Supplies, ATM National, IGT gaming services, Body Science/DNA Nutrition and each of our sponsors, supporters and families, who have generously supported the Football Club in 2011.Our season was very successful, both on and off the field, and although we were beaten 10-16 by Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the grand final of the ISC Queensland Cup, we represented this great Club to our best ability.

Gulls have had three players from our senior ranks rewarded with contracts to NRL clubs. They are Ryan Simpkins (Penrith), Josh Starling (Broncos) and Will Matthews (St George).Our season breakdown was as follows

• Held 1st ever semi final outside Queensland

• Won Titans Shield

In addition, our lower grades were as successful, with our Under 19’s Grand Final runners up to Burleigh 16-17 in Gold Coast RL competition, (beaten by a field goal) and Colts, Grand Final runners up to Norths Devils in Qld Fogs competition 22-26 (in golden point)This success has been due to the tireless efforts and dedication from our players and staff, which began with our Head Coach, Ben Anderson, who was instrumental in moulding together this outfit right through to our game day personnel, such as the Lions Club.Bring on 2012!

coming upanniversaryIt’s hard to believe, but Revolution Health and Fitness will be celebrating its’ first anniversary in May 2012.

Our state-of-the-art fitness centre has been embraced by the community. Membership continues to grow and has a broad appeal with ages ranging from 16 to 93. Yes, that’s 93, so never think you are too old to improve your health, fitness and live your best life.

Group Fitness classes have also grown with the introduction of dance classes, combat style classes and a class called Pulses, which caters for people who have experienced heart problems or who just need to take it a little easier.

The introduction of outdoor fitness training and our Wellness Weight Loss program have proven to be a huge benefit in members achieving their goals. Our resident Exercise Physiologist Jonathan Freeman has had raving reviews with his successful weekly column in The Sun newspaper.

Our Refuel Cafe is proving an absolute hit with its fresh juices, smoothies and mouth watering healthy lunches and delights.

“We look forward to continuing to provide new services in the coming year and are already working on projects like kayaking tours, running groups and much more. We are not your average gym and we like it that way. We’re a lot better than average” says Larissa Halls, the Facility Manager.
