Going: Good to Soft (Good in places)

Left handed, sharp with minor undulations. Fences generally regarded as fairly easy, but chases are normally well run and result in many more casualties than might be expected, novices often finding it one of the tougher jumping tests in the North. Going rarely gets that testing, nippy sorts generally at an advantage over gallopers who take time to quicken. Beware deceptive camera angle as runners swing into the home straight, those towards the centre often seeming closer to the lead than they actually are.

Pace Information: Strong

1 GREEN OR BLACK (IRE) (4) 9024333455 9 11-13 | 75.7kg Evan Williams Mr Edward Rees (7lb/3kg) Went close on a couple of occasions over hurdles for Neil Mulholland earlier this year but below best for new stable, well held over hurdles at Bangor (16.6f) 4 days ago. Headgear again left off here.

2 SCHALKE (15) 954266F-457 6 11-12 | 75.3kg Rebecca Menzies Miss Alex Garven (7lb/3kg) Definite signs of encouragement in novice/maiden hurdles and better than distance beaten suggests on handicap debut at Ayr latest, a mistake 3 out proving costly. One to consider.

3 UP WITH THE PLAY (IRE) (21) 8030-7 4 11-12 | 75.3kg Victor Thompson Mr Lewis Saunders (7lb/3kg) Fair maiden on the Flat. in Ireland. Placed on hurdle debut there in March but well beaten under both codes since, no threat on yard debut at Sedgefield in November. Makes handicap debut.

4 KINGS CREEK (IRE) (44) (C) s+t 9631459-766 4 11-7 | 73.0kg Mark Walford Miss Charlotte Crane (7lb/3kg) Juvenile hurdle winner for Iain Jardine last winter. Better effort for new yard when sixth at Market Rasen in July but he failed to back that up back from a break at Carlisle in October.

5 ECLAIR DES SABLONS (FR) (33) 972-7638032 7 11-4 | 71.7kg Tristan Davidson Mr John Dixon (3lb/1kg) Scored from this mark at Exeter (18.5f) in April and arrives here on the back of creditable placed efforts in selling company at up to 19f. Expected to remain competitive on debut for new stable.

6 BALKOTIC (FR) (11) s+t 934434-P30 5 11-3 | 71.2kg Micky Hammond Mr James Waggott (7lb/3kg) Flat winner in France who showed fair form at best over hurdles in France. Easy to back and didn’t show much on yard debut at Sedgefield (16.8f) 11 days ago and this should reveal more.

7 COUP DE GOLD (IRE) (21) (CD) 983-5332422 5 11-2 | 70.8kg David Thompson Mr Joshua Thompson (7lb/3kg) Arrives on a long losing run but extended sequence of in-the-frame efforts when runner-up at Sedgefield (16.8f) in November, left behind by winner but keeping on. Should give another good account.

8 DON BROCCO (178) 8677-P6P 5 11-2 | 70.8kg Harriet Graham Miss J. Walton (3lb/1kg) Hasn’t shown much at all in maiden/novice hurdles and didn’t look the easiest of rides when pulled up on handicap debut at Perth (3m) in June. Still early days but more needed back from a break.

9 COURT JURADO (IRE) (21) 1003-4645224 7 11-1 | 70.3kg

Donald McCain Miss Abbie McCain Only one win from 23 runs, but he recorded another good in-the-frame effort when fourth at Sedgefield (16.8f) last month, albeit having no excuses. Should give his running again.

10 OLD JEWRY (IRE) (8) 9821-89978P 7 11-0 | 69.9kg Daragh Bourke Mr James King Successful 3 times over hurdles during a productive 2020/21. Very few positives to glean from this season’s efforts though, including when pulled up over fences latest.

11 TROUBLE SHOOTER (IRE) (39) s 9234656 5 11-0 | 69.9kg Micky Hammond Mr Charlie Boddy (7lb/3kg) Fair on the Flat (stays 2m) who showed promise initially over hurdles but arrives here having run poorly on Flat/over hurdles. Mark has eased but others arrive with more pressing claims.

12 BURNAGE BOY (IRE) (33) 99725P/9-822 5 10-11 | 68.5kg Micky Hammond Miss Becky Smith Largely struggled on Flat this summer but arrives here having filled runners-up spot on each of his last 2 starts at Sedgefield (16.8f). One of the likelier types in present groove.

13 RIP ROCKS PADDY OK (IRE) (148) 490/7P60-P8P 6 10-9 | 67.6kg Kevin Hunter Mr Luke Scott (5lb/2kg) Fairly useful winning ex-Irish hurdler but has shown nothing in 5 starts for Kevin Hunter. Undergone wind surgery since his latest start in July.

14 WORLDLY APPROACH (IRE) (50) 886/00088-5 5 10-3 | 64.9kg R. Mike Smith Mr James Robottom (7lb/3kg) Didn’t offer much in bumpers/over hurdles for Shark Hanlon and similarly well held on qualifying hurdles run for new yard in October. Still, not one to write off now getting a crack at handicaps.

15 CUT AND RUN (21) (D) s 98P-758PP84 8 10-0 | 63.5kg Martin Keighley Mr Harry Atkins (7lb/3kg) Losing run is mounting up but she wasn’t disgraced when fourth at Southwell (3m) in November, operating from 5 lb out of the weights. Still, losing run is off-putting.

16 THE BRAVEST (GER) (50) t 94435 3 10-0(9-8) | 63.5kg (60.8kg) Iain Jardine Mr Paddy Barlow (7lb/3kg) Placed on 2 of his 3 starts on the Flat as a 2-y-o. Jumping lacked fluency in a brace of juvenile hurdles this summer and failed to justify support switched to a handicap latest. Tongue tie refitted.

17 PITTSBURG (IRE) (80) t 95P0-0PP0P 5 10-0(9-6) | 63.5kg (59.9kg) Ryan Potter Miss Alice Stevens (7lb/3kg) No form in maiden hurdles in Ireland and similarly offered little both starts for new yard, pulled up on handicap debut at Market Rasen (18.6f) in September. Long way out of weights here. Had wind op.

BETTING FORECAST:11-2 Schalke, 13-2 Burnage Boy, 8-1 Court Jurado, 9-1 Coup De Gold, 11-1 Cut And Run, 11-1 Eclair Des Sablons, 11-1 The Bravest, 14-1 Green Or Black, 16-1 Kings Creek, 22-1 Old Jewry, 22-1 Don Brocco, 33-1 Trouble Shooter, 33-1 Balkotic, 40-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:SCHALKE didn’t go without promise in novice/maiden hurdles and shaped better than the distance beaten suggests on handicap debut at Ayr last time, an error just as he was making his challenge proving costly. Less exposed than most, he’s worth a chance to confirm the promise of that run. Burnage Boy, Court Jurado and Coup de Gold head up the dangers.

Pace Information: Very Weak

1 ASHOVER HILLS (IRE) (27) 8357-64 5 10-12 | 68.9kg Sue Smith Ryan Mania Modest form on the first of 2 bumper starts and similar form both outings over hurdles, fourth of 13 in novice at Hexham (16.2f, good to soft) 27 days ago. More needed to play a leading role.

2 BALLYMAGEE (IRE) (221) 780-6 5 10-12 | 68.9kg Mrs Caroline McCaldin, Ireland Mr N. McParlan (3lb/1kg) Showed more than first time up in bumpers when sixth in a maiden event at Downpatrick in May and was going well in a close third when falling 2 out in a point last month. Not dismissed.

3 BARRULE PARK (44) (BF) t 830 5 10-12 | 68.9kg

Donald McCain Brian Hughes Kayf Tara gelding who was sent off favourite but was in need of the experience in sole bumper at Carlisle. Clearly thought capable of better. Had wind op and also tongue tied.

4 BRORSON (IRE) (32) (BF) 1002-2327 5 10-12 | 68.9kg Martin Keighley Sean Bowen 5-y-o who was far from disgraced when seventh in a big-field Cheltenham handicap (16.4f) last month, staying on again run-in. Sets the standard and this longer trip promises to suit.

5 COURT AT SLIP (IRE) (11) 793-56 4 10-12 | 68.9kg Tim Easterby Nathan Moscrop (3lb/1kg) Showed ability sole start in bumpers but has failed to make a meaningful impact on both hurdle outings so far. Type to do better in handicaps.

6 GEMINI FIRE (IRE) (20) 777 4 10-12 | 68.9kg Henry Hogarth Jamie Hamilton £18,000 4-y-o, Mahler gelding. Placed on the first of 2 starts in points but looks one for the longer term under Rules judged on his recent debut at Wetherby.

7 JAMIL (IRE) (11) 7567 6 10-12 | 68.9kg Tina Jackson Stephen Mulqueen Modest at best on the Flat and has offered little in a pair of Sedgefield maiden hurdles in recent weeks.

8 JUST PADDY’S BAND (IRE) (17) 781-349 5 10-12 | 68.9kg Micky Hammond Conor O’Farrell Fair in bumpers but ran below that level sent hurdling when well held at Newcastle 17 days ago.

9 MASTER ALAN (290) 785- 6 10-12 | 68.9kg Ruth Jefferson Callum Bewley From a family which has produced winners for this yard, but offered little in a novice hurdle at Newcastle on debut in February.

10 WRONG SHAPE BALL (IRE) 82 5 10-12 | 68.9kg Nicky Martin James Bowen €20,000 3-y-o, Mahler gelding. Half-brother to fair hurdler/fairly useful chaser Davinia’s Tip. Dam (h108) bumper/2m hurdle winner. Makes some appeal on paper so worth a market check.

10 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:5-4 Brorson, 11-2 Barrule Park, 7-1 Wrong Shape Ball, 8-1 Ballymagee, 14-1 Ashover Hills, 18-1 Court At Slip, 25-1 Just Paddy’s Band, 33-1 Master Alan, 40-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:BRORSON wasn’t disgraced when seventh in a big-field handicap at Cheltenham last month and even his form prior to that is working out well, so he’s very much the one to beat with this step up in trip promising to suit. Barrule Park failed to meet expectations in a Carlisle bumper but he’s clearly thought capable of much better, while newcomer Wrong Shape Ball requires a market check.

Pace Information: Weak

1 TOP BEAK (IRE) (22) (C) 978214-116P 8 11-12 | 75.3kg Max Young Charlie Hammond Thrived over hurdles this spring, making it 3 wins in decisive fashion at Fakenham. Ran no sort of race at Ludlow on return, however, and not an obvious chasing type.

2 BARNAY (27) b 75312146-78 6 11-7 | 73.0kg Jennie Candlish Sean Quinlan Enjoyed a good spell last winter, scoring twice at up to 19.8f either side of placed efforts. However, ran poorly tried chasing both starts this term.

3 CHESTERVILLE (IRE) (8) h 950-138269B 7 11-7 | 73.0kg Rebecca Menzies Nathan Moscrop (3lb/1kg) Ex-Irish winning hurdler but far from a natural chaser and has made a quiet start for this yard.

4 THELONGWAYAROUND (IRE) (20) 9742/073-U 8 11-4 | 71.7kg Sue Smith Ryan Mania Fair hurdles winner who has been lightly raced in recent years and was in the process of running poorly when departing 2 out at Wetherby on return.

5 PATH TO FREEDOM (IRE) (177) t 97P53522-47 9 11-4 | 71.7kg Jacqueline Coward Alex Edwards (3lb/1kg) Still to get his head in front but often in the frame. Poor effort when last seen in June but type to bounce back.

6 BALRANALD (FR) (21) (D) s 98524-24891 5 11-2 | 70.8kg Alison Hamilton Jamie Hamilton Failed to strike in 15 attempts over hurdles but made first start over fences a winning one at Sedgefield 3 weeks ago, the change of discipline evidently doing something for him. Should go well again.

7 MELANAMIX (IRE) (15) 10034P4-463 6 11-0 | 69.9kg R. Mike Smith Henry Brooke Point winner who has displayed some promise over hurdles and shaped well when third at Ayr on chase bow, left with a lot to do and not knocked about. Likely to build on that and needs considering.

8 WHITECHURCH (IRE) (22) s 944/765-0U43 7 10-8 | 67.1kg

Donald McCain Brian Hughes Uninspiring record over hurdles but is a winning pointer and better for chase debut when third at Ludlow despite seemed unsuited by track. May do better again back at left-handed course. Headgear on.

9 ZEN MASTER (IRE) (40) 96F9-PP4414 9 10-0 | 63.5kg Mike Sowersby Aaron Anderson (5lb/2kg) Ended a long losing run with victory in 7-runner handicap chase at Sedgefield, driven out. Only fourth there next time, though, typically pulling hard.

10 SPOT ON SOPH (IRE) (25) h+t 99807475-F 5 10-0(9-11) | 63.5kg (62.1kg) Sam England Jonathan England Poor form over hurdles last term. However, was in the process of showing much-improved form on chase debut when departing at the last at Catterick on return (booked for second). 3 lb out of weights.

11 MADAM SCULLY (351) t 647530/0467- 8 10-0(9-2) | 63.5kg (58.1kg) Tina Jackson Stephen Mulqueen Poor maiden hurdler who offered little both starts over fences when last seen a year ago. 12 lb out of the handicap.

12 MARIAS LAD (FR) (27) b+t 9500PP 5 10-0(5-11) | 63.5kg (36.7kg) Ryan Potter Ben Poste Unplaced in a point and has shown nothing in all 4 outings over hurdles. Miles out of the handicap on chase bow.

12 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:11-2 Whitechurch, 6-1 Thelongwayaround, 13-2 Melanamix, 13-2 Balranald, 7-1 Spot On Soph, 10-1 Zen Master, 11-1 Path To Freedom, 14-1 Chesterville, 16-1 Barnay, 22-1 Top Beak, 100-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:MELANAMIX was given a considerate introduction to chasing when a promising third on her chase bow at Ayr and she gets the vote with improvement forthcoming. Whitechurch was a good third at Ludlow 3 weeks ago despite seeming unsuited by the right-handed track so may do better again going the other way around, while Balranald looked suited by the switch to fences when scoring at Sedgefield.

Left handed, sharp with minor undulations. Fences generally regarded as fairly easy, but chases are normally well run and result in many more casualties than might be expected, novices often finding it one of the tougher jumping tests in the North. Pace Information: Even

1 INCA PRINCE (IRE) (45) h 100533 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Ruth Jefferson Jamie Hamilton Fairly useful winner at 7f on Flat. Isn’t straightforward but has shown a fair level of form in a trio of juvenile hurdles in Ireland and has since moved to Ruth Jefferson. Player.

2 INSIDE INFORMANT (USA) h 88 3 10-12 | 68.9kg L J Morgan Richie McLernon Flintshire gelding. Half-brother to winner up to 1m Augustus Caesar. Dam smart 7f winner. Wears hood. Market useful.

3 KAYFAST WARRIOR (IRE) 94 3 10-12 | 68.9kg

Donald McCain Brian Hughes Fairly useful on Flat for Tom Dascombe, stays 1¼m, completed a hat-trick in July and posted a creditable effort last time. Has joined a good NH yard and should be up to making his mark in this sphere.

4 KEEP THE FAITH (IRE) (40) 86U 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Michael & David Easterby Conor O’Farrell Fair maiden on the Flat (best effort at 1½m), made an inauspicious start over hurdles at Sedgefield last month, jumping badly right and unseating his rider at the first.

5 KRYPTON GOLD (IRE) (16) 932 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Stuart Edmunds Charlie Hammond Half-brother to very smart hurdler Aspire Tower. Modest maiden on Flat (sold 4,000 gns), but he offered something to work on switched to this sphere when second at Leicester 16 days ago. Can improve.

6 LINDWALL (IRE) (20) t 895 3 10-12 | 68.9kg

Donald McCain Peter Kavanagh (7lb/3kg) Fair stayer on Flat, got an AW hat-trick up for Sir Mark Prescott in October. 15,000 gns purchase but made an underwhelming hurdling debut at Wetherby last month. Tongue tie added.

7 MONSIEUR POM POM (FR) 88 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Adrian Keatley Sean Quinlan Pomellato gelding. Half-brother to 1¼m winner Oviedo. Dam lightly raced on Flat. Market perhaps best guide to expectations.

8 OUTBACK BOY (IRE) (16) h 7097 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Oliver Greenall Henry Brooke Fairly useful on Flat (stays 12f) but became disappointing in that sphere this summer and has shown little aptitude for hurdling in a couple of starts.

9 SHIELDED (IRE) 86 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Nigel Hawke David Noonan Fair maiden on Flat, stays 1¼m, second at Brighton in September but well beaten last time. Sold from Simon & Ed Crisford for 9,000 gns in October.

10 SUBTLE INNUENDO (IRE) (20) 753P 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Barbara Butterworth Callum Bewley Showed a bit on hurdles debut for the Easterbys at Market Rasen in the summer but was pulled up at Wetherby 4 months later.

11 TOMMASO (IRE) (12) 893 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Philip Kirby Thomas Dowson Fair maiden on the Flat who shaped with encouragement sent hurdling when third of 9 in juvenile at Market Rasen (16.6f, soft) on NH debut 12 days ago. Likely to improve and this track should suit.

12 UCCELLO (IRE) (20) 75U 3 10-12 | 68.9kg Micky Hammond Miss Becky Smith (3lb/1kg) Beat just 4 rivals in as many starts on the Flat for Karl Burke and sent off 80/1 when unseating his rider at the fourth on Wetherby hurdle debut 20 days ago.

13 RITA R (IRE) 75 3 10-5 | 65.8kg Barry Murtagh Craig Nichol Modest maiden on Flat, stays 1¾m, failed to stay back up markedly in trip last time. Others make more appeal.

13 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:3-1 Inca Prince, 4-1 Kayfast Warrior, 5-1 Krypton Gold, 7-1 Tommaso, 14-1 Inside Informant, 16-1 Lindwall, 18-1 Shielded, 18-1 Monsieur Pom Pom, 33-1 Keep The Faith, 66-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:KRYPTON GOLD is a half-brother to very smart hurdler Aspire Tower and made an encouraging start in this sphere when second at Leicester 16 days ago, so he appeals as the most persuasive option with improvement on the cards. Recent Market Rasen third Tommaso should be suited by this bare 2m and is second choice but Kayfast Warrior and Inca Prince also look big threats.

RACE 4

Page 6: Tuesday 14th December CATTERICK

Going: Good to Soft (Good in places)

Left handed, sharp with minor undulations. Fences generally regarded as fairly easy, but chases are normally well run and result in many more casualties than might be expected, novices often finding it one of the tougher jumping tests in the North. Going rarely gets that testing, nippy sorts generally at an advantage over gallopers who take time to quicken. Beware deceptive camera angle as runners swing into the home straight, those towards the centre often seeming closer to the lead than they actually are.

Pace Information: Very Weak

1 QUICK DRAW (IRE) (7) s 993513-3P11 5 11-12 | 75.3kg Tom Lacey Stan Sheppard Could well be on the cusp temperament wise (looks increasingly hard work), but is going through a good spell over hurdles, winning twice at Uttoxeter in recent weeks. Unpenalised in hat-trick bid.

2 ACCORDINGTOGINO (IRE) (21) (D) s+t 951P22-5P62 8 11-9 | 73.9kg Dan Skelton Harry Skelton Looking temperamental but returned to form when second of 5 in 3m Southwell handicap chase 3 weeks ago. Same mark over hurdles here but needs more to come out on top.

3 FEVERTRE (IRE) (36) (BF) 956884F-2 6 11-1 | 70.3kg Nicky Martin James Bowen Well backed and ran easily his best race when second of 11 in Carlisle handicap hurdle last month, never far away and jumping well. Should be winning soon.

4 TEESCOMPONENTSTRIG (642) s 87422314/ 6 11-1 | 70.3kg Gillian Boanas Brian Hughes Opened his account in good style in 23.7f Newcastle handicap hurdle in January 2020. Held next time though and not seen subsequently. Cheekpieces reached for on first run for 21 months.

5 KAUTO D’AMOUR (FR) (25) 9386213-6F7 6 10-13 | 69.4kg Sue Smith Thomas Willmott (5lb/2kg) Dual hurdles winner at Newcastle but his jumping has rather let him down of late, falling at the last at Sedgefield when he may have been placed, and held here last time after a bad mistake 3 out.

6 BLAZER (FR) (25) s 950-088577P 10 10-13 | 69.4kg Ben Haslam Richie McLernon Useful at his peak for Willie Mullins, but it’s been a while since he last made an impact. Rare go over hurdles and was rated in the 140s over them in Ireland.

7 VEE DANCER (IRE) (7lb/3kg ex) (3) (D) 1000080-611 6 10-13 | 69.4kg Ronan M. P. McNally, Ireland K. Brogan (3lb/1kg) On a roll and again looked to have masses in hand as he followed up his Huntingdon victory in good style under this rider at Hereford on Saturday. All stamina and the hat-trick beckons.

8 KISS MY FACE (15) s 913257-536 4 10-8 | 67.1kg Brian Ellison Henry Brooke Has shown enough to think he can pick up a race in this sphere and is upped markedly in distance here. Will find easier assignments.

9 THATBEATSBANAGHER (IRE) (33) s 905950U45P 7 10-6 | 66.2kg Ben Haslam Alain Cawley Three-time winner for Enda Bolger in Ireland, but like his stablemate Blazer, has offered little over fences in recent months.

9 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:1-2 Vee Dancer, 8-1 Quick Draw, 9-1 Fevertre, 16-1 Accordingtogino, 25-1 Kauto D’amour, 50-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:A race that revolves around VEE DANCER and the Irish challenger should get the hat-trick up. He came clear with plenty in hand at Hereford on Saturday, relishing the longer trip, and can carry on improving for a good while yet. Quick Draw is on a hat-trick himself but is probably nowhere near as well-handicapped as the selection and is rather hard work. Fevertre is an interesting alternative.

1 CENOTICE (22) (D) b+t 953250/1536 7 12-0 | 76.2kg

Donald McCain Theo Gillard (5lb/2kg) Back from 22 months off when making winning debut for new yard in 3-runner handicap at Perth in July but in danger of going the wrong way judged on subsequent efforts. Blinkers back on/tongue tied.

2 COOLKILL (IRE) (52) (BF) h 96521-P 7 11-12 | 75.3kg

Sandy Thomson Ryan Mania Race-by-race progress over hurdles last term, making it third time lucky at Perth (16.2f) in April, asserting final 50 yds. Shaped as if amiss on chase bow/return (subsequently found to be coughing).

3 OUT ON THE TEAR (IRE) (11) (CD) 9816/3212-45 7 11-10 | 74.4kg Sam Allwood Charlie Todd (3lb/1kg) Made a bright start over fences last season, off the mark in this race a year ago. Trip too far next time and respectable efforts in defeat both starts this term. Big player back down in class.

4 FULL OF SURPRISES (FR) (152) (C, D) 58150/56-4 6 11-4 | 71.7kg Neil Mulholland Richie McLernon Ran out an impressive winner on hurdling bow here in late 2019. Has struggled to make an impact since, however, and was well held on chase bow/return at Worcester when last seen in July.

5 RELKADAM (FR) (12) (C, D) s+t 100254-P3544 7 10-10 | 68.0kg Tim Easterby Jamie Hamilton Bagged deep-ground handicaps here (19.2f) and at Wetherby last winter. Not in same form in summer but step back in right direction when fourth at Market Rasen on return. Now dipped below winning mark.

6 CLARET DABBLER (195) s 83358/34-57 7 10-0(9-10) | 63.5kg (61.7kg) Harriet Graham Thomas Willmott (5lb/2kg) Fair form in bumpers but has failed to make an impact in a handful of runs over hurdles/chases. 4 lb out of a handicap.

6 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:2-1 Out On The Tear, 7-2 Relkadam, 4-1 Coolkill, 15-2 Cenotice, 10-1 Full of Surprises, 18-1 Claret Dabbler

TIMEFORM VIEW:RELKADAM has been given a chance by handicapper and faces a far more suitable test back down in trip. He’s fancied to take advantage at the main expense of last year’s winner Out On The Tear, who hasn’t been disgraced in a couple of class 3s this term. Progressive-hurdler Coolkill was found to be coughing on his chase debut/return so is well worth another chance.

Pace Information: Even

1 BALLYMIST (IRE) (35) t 943 6 11-0 | 69.9kg Mrs Caroline McCaldin, Ireland Mr N. McParlan (3lb/1kg) Runner-up in a point prior to finishing third of 4 in a Fairyhouse bumper last month (tongue tied).

2 BAYRAAT (14) 9076 5 11-0 | 69.9kg Tom Tate Sean Bowen Speedy pedigree and stamina could be an issue in bumpers given what we have seen so far.

3 BURROW SEVEN 92 4 11-0 | 69.9kg Jedd O’Keeffe Oakley Brown (5lb/2kg) €65,000 3-y-o, Kayf Tara gelding. Brother to a winner, and half-brother to 3 winners, including winning hurdler/smart chase winner Silver Hallmark and useful hurdler Gayebury. Likeable pedigree.

4 BURROWS HALL (FR) (25) 943 4 11-0 | 69.9kg Sue Smith Ryan Mania Hunter’s Light half-brother to 3 winners, including useful hurdlers Burrows Edge and Burrows Park. Pleasing start when third of 9 in a C&D bumper 25 days ago.

5 CALL ME JEZZA (IRE) 91 6 11-0 | 69.9kg Tjade Collier Sean Quinlan Jeremy gelding. Dam, maiden pointer, out of half-sister to top-class chaser Celestial Gold (2½m-3¼m winner) and high-class hurdler Fiveforthree (2m-3m winner).

6 CARTONNE (FR) 95 4 11-0 | 69.9kg

Donald McCain Brian Hughes £27,000 4-y-o. Half-brother to 3 winners, including fairly useful hurdler Petit Tartare and fairly useful chaser Prince Tartare. Dam 15f hurdle winner. Third both starts in Irish points in May.

7 FORWARD PLAN (IRE) (31) (BF) t 1005 5 11-0 | 69.9kg Anthony Honeyball Rex Dingle Dam bumper winner. Comfortably off mark in Irish points at second attempt in May and shaped a lot better then end result suggests at Uttoxeter last month. Open to improvement fitted with a tongue tie.

8 KRACKA NUT 96 4 11-0 | 69.9kg Dan Skelton Harry Skelton Blue Bresil gelding. Dam unraced half-sister to top-class hurdler/very smart chaser (stayed 3¼m) More of That. Makes plenty of appeal on paper.

9 MONAGHAN BOY (IRE) (25) 796 4 11-0 | 69.9kg Micky Hammond Alain Cawley Dam, well held in bumper, half-sister to fairly useful hurdler/chaser (2m-2¾m winner) Cruchain. Should strip fitter with last month’s C&D run under his belt.

10 THE REAL RASCAL (IRE) (38) 6088 4 11-0 | 69.9kg Jackie Stephen Jamie Hamilton No promise both starts 6 months apart.

11 WHATSGOINGON (FR) 90 5 11-0 | 69.9kg Paul Robson Callum Bewley Ballingarry gelding. Half-brother to a point winner. Dam unraced half-sister to 2m-3m hurdle/chase winner Calideo.

12 DARSI’S DARLING (IRE) (20) 963 5 10-7 | 66.7kg Sue Smith Thomas Willmott (5lb/2kg) £2,000 3-y-o, Darsi mare. Dam unraced half-sister to bumper winner/smart hurdler (winner around 2m) Farmer Brown. Promising debut when third at Wetherby 3 weeks ago. Repeat will see her in the mix.

13 SHANTOU BOUDICCA (526) 906- 5 10-7 | 66.7kg Tjade Collier Benjamin Abbott (10lb/5kg) Big price but debut run at Uttoxeter in July 2020 wasn’t devoid of promise. Off since, though.

13 DECLARED RUNNERS

BETTING FORECAST:7-2 Forward Plan, 6-1 Kracka Nut, 13-2 Darsi’s Darling, 7-1 Cartonne, 8-1 Burrows Hall, 17-2 Ballymist, 14-1 Burrow Seven, 22-1 Call Me Jezza, 33-1 Whatsgoingon, 40-1 bar

TIMEFORM VIEW:Following an easy win in an Irish point, FORWARD PLAN was heavily backed to make a winning start in bumpers at Uttoxeter, only to finish fifth. The application of a tongue tie may help his finishing effort and he’s well worth another chance, with Darsi’s Darling feared most unless Kracka Nut is supported on debut.
