Below is a sample paragraph that would deserve a 100 %
(16/16 points on the rubric)
It is taken from the story Tuesday of the other June.
It is written about June (the bully).
In the short story "Tuesday of the Other June", by Norma Fox Mazer, the Other June's (June M.'s) character traits are revealed through her speech, actions and appearance. Through June M.'s dialogue, your can infer that she is a cruel person. In the beginning of the story, June M. calls June T. fish eyes. This is noted on page 473. June M. states, "Yournameisfisheyes." By saying this to June T., June M. is attacking her personal appearance, thus resulting in June T. becoming self conscience. June M's actions reveal that she is violent. This is shown on page 474. She swam alongside June T., blew and huffed on her, and knocked into her during swim practice. June M.s physical violence not only hurt June T.'s feelings, but her body as well. Furthermore, June M. appearance shows she is intimidating. On page 473, June M. is described as having large square teeth, being heavier with bigger bones and square hands. Based on the description of June M.'s appearance, she is seen as having a tough exterior that not many people would want to stand up to. In conclusion, June M.'s speech, actions and appearance revealed her negative character traits.
1. Underline the topic sentence in blue.
2. Underline each piece of textual evidence in green, black and red.
