BABY IS BORN!

HAVE GOOD DREAMS

Soothers, baby bottles, nipples. Parents want to be sure that all these products are free of risks for the baby. Regulatory agencies demands the product to demonstrate its safety by complying with all applicable standards: ABNT NBR 10334 and ABNT NBR 13793, respectively.

SGS Brazil labs are accredited by CGCRE (General Comission of INMETRO for Accreditation) and have expertise to carry out all necessary tests to demonstrate the conformity of those products according to Settlement 35/2009 and RDC 221.

Verify compliance with national and international standards through testing:

Physical/Mechanical; Chemical; Performance; Flammability; Food contact.

These solutions also include voluntary assessments, certifications and training services offered by SGS ICS Certificadora.

Cots, cribs, cradles, mattresses are under compulsory certification in Brazil, according to Settlement 269 from July 21st, 2011.

Our laboratory for these products is accredited by CGCRE and has the most modern equipaments to carry out all the tests required by National Standard ABNT NBR 15860 Parts 1 and 2 to comply with:

IT’S TIME TO EAT!

Regulations for baby strollers certification are in force since 2012, after Settlement 351 was released. They demand compliance with the requirements from ABNT NBR 14389 and ABNT NBR 14440 and have as primary objective preventing accidents with children and babies.

To assure the product is safe, these itens must be tested in laboratories certified by CGCRE, like ours in SGS Brazil, against the criteria bellow :

Ties and ropes safety;

Lack of borders;Edges that might cause injury;‘‘Parking’’ brake;Stability on inclined surfaces.

National suppliers and importers will have 18 months from the settlement release date to comply with new rules, and retailers, 36 months, to sell reminiscent stock of non certified products. This means that from January 6th 2014 on, no baby stroler can or will be imported or manufactured in Brazil without this new INMETRO certification mark.

Newly released Settlement 51/2013 disposes that high chairs and other models that can be used in other ways, like baby strollers, reclining chair for babies, table seat/hook on chair and baby scale must be in compliance with this regulation and with regulations for

any other specific function.

BABY’S FIRST STEPS

IT’S PARTY TIME

As primary objective to increase safety of baby walkers, INMETRO has decided for their compulsory certification. It means that until 2014, manufactures will also have to comply with production specific requirements.

INMETRO will define the regulations based on ABNT requirements as well as current settlements from Europe and United States.

Due to the expertise of our professionals, SGS ICS Certificadora is able to provide your company technical assistance and gap analysis in order to support manufacturers and importers to adjust their products and get them in compliance with the new regulation.

During the party, itens and accessories must be in accordance with regulatory requirements.

From october 2013 on, manufacturers and importers must attend to requirements for certification.

SGS Brazil has expertise to carry out all necessary tests to demonstrate compliance with Settlement 545/12, for the following products :

Items in contact with skin or saliva (napkins, tableware, straw, etc);Items for food conditioning (disposable dishes, cardboard dishes, etc);Decorative items: party hats, masks, etc; Itens for decoration (tablecloths with children themes);Invitations with child themes;Disposable plastic glasses to be used on children parties, except for those under Settlement 453/10 from INMETRO.

IT´S TIME TO GO TO SCHOOL

Compulsory certification follows children growing up as well as SGS Group solutions. During school time, school supplies has to be certified. ABNT NBR 15236 provides the requirements to ensure the safety of little consumers.
