Day 01 Monday Sept.18 Depart Newark via United Airlines for Lisbon, Portugal

Day 02 Tuesday Sept.19 Morning arrival with UA 64 @ 8:20 a.m. in Lisbon, a legendary city with over twenty centuries of history. Meet your tour manager and transfer with your deluxe motor coach for a leisurely ride to Vigo just across the Spanish border featuring one of Spain’s most exclusive yacht clubs. On the way a lunch stop, on your own, in Porto area dating back some 4,000 years and one of the oldest towns in Europe. Be sure to taste their famous bold Port wine. Dinner at your hotel. D

Day 03 Wednesday Sept.20 After breakfast walk a short distance to celebrate Mass with Bishop Bambera at the Basilica de Santa Maria de Vigo continuing with a guided city tour. Following lunch (on your own) enjoy a boat ride to the Island of Isla Cies. Dinner in hotel. BD

Day 04 Thursday Sept.21 Full day in Santiago de Compostela. One of the great shrines of medieval Christendom and Europe’s most perfect medieval cities. You will find a mix of religious and secular buildings and a unique spiritual atmosphere. Early morning Mass with Bishop Bambera in the great Basilica where the remains of St. James lie beneath the high altar in a silver coffer. Afterward enjoy a guided city tour including the Barrio Antiguo, Plaza da Quintana, the arcaded Casa de la Cononica and other historical sights. Then experience Old Santiago, the historic heart is pedestrian-only and can be traversed on foot in less than 30 minutes. Remainder of the day free for individual activities or private devotion at the Shrine of St. James. Dinner on your own. B

Day 05 Friday Sept.22 Morning transfer and visit to Coimbra, one of the oldest university towns in Europe founded in 1290. Enjoy a visit to the museum of Sister Lucia, the eldest of the three Fatima children. Celebrate Mass with Bishop Bambera in the chapel of the Monastery following a visit to the museum of Sister Lucia. Late afternoon arrival in Fatima, one of the principal places of pilgrimage in the Roman Catholic world. On May 13, 1917 the first apparition appeared with further visions on the 13th day of each subsequent month, culminating in an inexplicable spectacle on October 13th, when 70,000 onlookers witnessed the sun spinning like a ball in the sky. Dinner at your hotel. Optional: 9:30 p.m. attend the rosary and candlelight procession at the Chapel of Apparitions.

Day 06 Saturday Sept.23 Full day in Fatima. Early morning celebrate Mass with Bishop Bambera at the Chapel of Apparitions. Afterward enjoy a guided tour of the most interesting sights including the Basilica with the tombs of the children, Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta. Follow the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra to the Chapel of Calvary overlooking all of Fatima. Afterward time on your own for private devotions, personal visitations and meditation. Day 07 Sunday Sept.24 Early morning transfer for a scenic drive along the coastal freeway via Santarem, including a visit to the Cathedral and venerate the Eucharistic Miracle of the “Bleeding Host”. Celebrate Mass with Bishop Bambera in the Church of the Holly Miracle. (Igreja do Santissimo Milagre) Continue your leisurely drive arriving after noon in Lisbon- a legendary city with over twenty centuries of history. Enjoy a panoramic city tour including St. Anthony’s Basilica, the Belem Tower, the Monument to the Discoveries, Vasco de Gama Bridge and other historical sites. Remainder of the day free. Dinner in local restaurant. BD Day 08 Monday Sept.25 Morning Mass in Ingrea Paroquial de Sao Jose Church. Afterward enjoy a leisurely excursion to Estoril. Beginning as a small fishing village it has become an elegant and cosmopolitan area and is Portugal’s most popular holiday resort. Continue for a short drive to Sintra, a UNESCO Heritage Site of the Paco Real (Royal Palace) set in lush and mountainous country side. And culminating with a visit to Cabo da Roca, spectacular ocean views and cliffs 140 meters high with a lighthouse at its peak. It is Europe’s westernmost point. Remainder of day free for individual activity. Farewell Paella dinner at a local restaurant.
