that are formed due to subduction zones between the

Eurasian plate and the Indo-Australian plate.

• Indonesia is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire,

otherwise known as the most active seismic region on

the planet.

• There are more than 877 mountains in Indonesia and

East Timor. Some of them are active and others

inactive or dormant.

• Some of the volcanoes are notable for their eruptions,

for instance, Krakatoa for its global effects in 1883, the

Lake Toba Caldera for its supervolcanic eruption

traders, led by Francisco Serrão, sought to monopolise the sources

• Mohammad Hatta , 12 August 1902 – 14 March 1980• Known as "The Proclamator", he and a number of Indonesians,

including the first president of Indonesia, Sukarno, fought for the independence of Indonesia from the Dutch.

• After his early education, he studied in Dutch schools in the Dutch East Indies and studied in the Netherlands from 1921 until 1932

• Hatta is often remembered as Bung Hatta (according to author Pramoedya Ananta Toer, "bung" is an affectionate title meaning "friend"

The five types of living micro-organisms are bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae

• Bacteria can be rod-shaped, spiral-shaped or spherical. Some bacteria can

be useful, such as certain types found in the stomach, but other nasty kinds

although they are occasionally helpful too.
