alkaline?

• What solvent/chemicals will there be in

the wastewater?

system are to comply with the

requirements o Australian/New Zealand

Standard AS/NZS 3500 as amended.

Properties responsible or commercial and

industrial activities are required to protect

the water supply rom contamination.

The type o business activity

(e.g. restaurant, launderette, light

engineering, repairs etc.)

The scale and type o business operation

that generates the liquid wastewater

(e.g. number o meals prepared per day,

number o chickens cooked per day,

quantity o garments laundered per day,

number o vehicles detailed per day etc.)

A list o equipment used in the business

that produces wastewater (e.g.

commercial dishwasher, steam cleaner,

number o washing machines etc.)

The location o where the business

activity will be conducted (e.g. in a rooed,

unrooed washbay, within buildings etc.)

Details o wastewaterdischarge.

This inormation is essential to determine

the suitability o the proposed treatmentsystem and the capabilities o the

receiving sewer.

• Gravity or pumped reers to how

the wastewater will be discharged to

the sewer.

• Peak ow rate must be expressed in

litres per second (L/sec) which may be

calculated by combining the maximum

wastewater discharge rom the business

activities.

• Duration is the maximum time theproposed discharge will occur

(e.g. 1 - 2 hours).

Trade Waste permitprocess.No work is to commence prior to

completing the application and receivinga Trade Waste Discharge Permit.

The Trade Waste Discharge permit will be

issued to acilitate the proposed activity

and to ensure compliance with trade

waste discharge conditions and or the

eective management o the pretreatment

system pertaining to this application.

A review and verifcation o the suitability

o the pretreatment system will be carried

out prior to the end o the term stated

within the Trade Waste Discharge Permit

which may include the examination o maintenance records relevant to the

pretreatment system.

Where the installation meets the ull

requirement o SA Water, the Trade Waste

Discharge Permit will be subsequently

extended. Should the outcome o the

review not meet these requirements,

amendments to the pretreatment system

or its maintenance will be necessary prior

to the Trade Waste Discharge Permit being

extended.

Copies o the Trade Waste Discharge

Permits will be retained by SA Water or

recording as required under Regulation

35 o the Sewerage Act.

Compliance audit ees. The discharge o trade waste to the

sewerage system is assessed in terms o

risk to SA Water’s inrastructure and is

assigned a minimum number o

compliance audit visits each year related

to that risk. A low risk trade waste

business will normally only receive one

compliance audit visit per year. A ee is

levied to each o these visits.

This ee together with the application ee

is reviewed annually.
