Both teams played many games of touch football and netball and had a great day. This Friday we have nine primary students representing Tottenham Central and Gobondery/NARRAF at the WSSA athletics trials. Good luck to all of our students. Next week Michelle will be a part of the CHS Western Girls Tennis team who will be participating at the CHS Girls State Tennis Championships at Inverell. This is a very exciting opportunity for Michelle and we wish her all the best. WAP Next week Year 11 will be completing their Preliminary Yearly examinations. We wish them well. Captains Speeches Yesterday morning Kayla Lydeamore, Lachlan Makim and Jacob Loftus stood in front of the whole school to convince us all why they would make a good school captain for 2019/2020. All students spoke very well, from the heart telling us why they would make a great school captain. The successful candidate will be announced at our final assembly for this term on Monday 23 September. Attendance Yesterday I had a visit from the Home School Liaison Officers who are a part of the Regional Attendance team. Included in the newsletter is information regarding the importance of your child attending school every day, and what to do if your child is away from school. Following an absence from school you must ensure that within 7 days you provide us with a verbal or written explanation for the absence. Staff will be sending home reminders for outstanding absences. Prescribed medication

Parents/carers of children who require prescribed medication to be administered at school must complete a written request form which is available from the office. When a medical practitioner has prescribed medication that must be administered during the school day, parents/carers must:

notify the school

provide up to date information as required

supply the medication and any ‘consumables’ necessary for its administration in a timely way.

We thank you for your cooperation.

Flower show All students will be attending the Flower Show next Friday 20 September at 2pm. If you would like to take your child/ren home from the Flower Show a note must be sent into your child’s teacher before next Friday, otherwise they will have to return to school with their class.

Uniform orders Included in this newsletter is a summer uniform order form. Please complete, make payment and return to school before Wednesday 25 September to ensure that we have the items you require for next term. Girls dresses, skirts and shorts are supplied to us through a ‘made to order’ company and we do not stock these items, so please order on this form if you require them. We endeavour to keep the cost of uniform as low as possible and as close to retail cost as possible but we are charged a small order fee if we need to order ad hoc. If you would like to make your own girls’ garments, tartan material is available for $13/m at the school office.

Book Club reminder

Orders are due back to the school by 13 September. Please make cheques payable to Tottenham Central School.

Tottenham Horse Gymkhana—Saturday 12 October P&C needs your help on the canteen! If you haven’t had a chance to think about the P&C’s call for help at the Tottenham Gymkhana on Saturday 12 October, please read through the below. There are a few time slots left for helpers, and to register just click on the link below or copy it across to your internet browser. If you are not able to participate for an entire time slot, please call Jo on 0459 928 250 and she will be able to schedule you into a time that fits best into your day. Options are: 1 - 3pm 3 - 5pm 5 - 7pm Alternatively, we are keen as mustard for cakes and savoury items including gluten free options, to sell on the day at the canteen. We really can’t complete this task for the Gymkhana Committee unless the majority of us are able to assist in some way! So far we have pledges of Mars Bars Slice, Lattice Slice, Frittatas, Cheese & Crackers, Jelly Cups, Mini Trifles and Scones (I’m keen to intercept them before they even get to the canteen) – but we are keen for more scrumptious morning and afternoon tea treats. Here’s the original story! The P&C are running the canteen at the Tottenham Gymkhana on the 12 October which is the last Saturday of the school holidays . We will be serving drinks, morning and afternoon tea and lunch options, including sandwiches and hot dogs. If you can volunteer your time, please see details below. If you are unable to help on the day, but would like to donate sweet or savoury snacks, please let me know. Volunteer opportunities for "Tottenham P&C Gymkhana Canteen 2019" are now open. Please click on the following web link (or copy it into your web browser if clicking doesn't work) to go to the signup sheet: volunteersignup.org/YMJT3 To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do. Thank you for volunteering!

Ag. News Our new trailer has arrived! Many thanks to Mick and Lisa Finlay for collecting it a couple of weeks ago. Will and the boys have been very busy concreting bases for the compost bays and containers, as well as paths. They have also continued to look after the chooks and orchard, mulch and fertilise the garden beds and plant a small variety of spring vegetables. A well-earned sausage sizzle or freshly squeezed lemonade is always appreciated!
