PAULO SCOTT, born in Porto Alegre in 1966, lives in Garopaba and works as a writer, playwright, screen- writer and cultural press collaborator. His stories Ainda Orangotangos [“Still Orangutans”] were adapted as a movie, winning the Milano Film Festival in 2008. His books, among them four novels, a book of short stories and five books of poetry, have been awarded numerous renowned prizes, such as: Winner of the 2006 Myriam Muniz National Theatre Prize for the play Crucial Dois Um [“Crucial Two One”]. For the novel Habitante Irreal [“Nowhere People”]; Winner of the 2012 Machado de Assis Prize from the Fundação Biblioteca Nacio- nal; Winner of the 2014 Paulista Association of Arts Critics Award for the poetry collection Mesmo sem dinheiro comprei um esqueite novo [“Even though I was broke I bought a new skateboard”]. Winner of the 2016 Azores Literature Prize for the O ano em que vivi de literatura [“The year in which I lived from literature”]. The author was also shortlisted for the Portugal Telecom Prize for Portuguese-language Literature 2012, for the 2012 Literature Prize Casa da América Latina / Grupo Lena / Portugal, and for the 2016 International Dublin Literary Award. Currently he is working on the first draft of a novel called Brown and Yellow. JOÃO TORDO was born in Lisbon in 1975. He graduated in philosophy and studied journalism and creative writing in London and New York. His novel As TrêsVidas won the José Saramago Prize in 2009. He has published nine novels: The Book of Lightless Men (2004), Memory Hotel (2007), Three Lives (2009), The Good Winter (2010), The Anatomy of Martyrs (2011), The SabbaticalYear (2013) Accidental Biography of a Love Affair (2014) Mourning Elias Gro (2015) and Eden Accord- ing to Lars D. (2015). He was shortlisted for the Portugal Telecom Prize, for the Portuguese Society for Authors Award for Narrative Fiction, the Fernando Namora Literary Prize and for the 6th edition of the European Literature Prize. His books are published in many countries, including France, Italy and Brazil. He has also participated in many television series as a screenplay writer and works as a chronicler and a trainer in fiction workshops dedicated to creative writing and novels.
